WHY DOGS ARE MANS BEST fRIEND

Postby Doggymommy on Fri Dec 12, 2008 5:38 am

There is a story told by the American Indians that the Great Spirit decided to divide
the worlds of animal and man
so he gathered all the living beings on a great plain and drew a line in the dirt.
On one side of the line stood man --- on the other side stood all of the animals.
And that line began to open up into a great crevasse - and at the last moment before
it became unreachable, dog leapt over and stood by man.

I think the American Indians had a deep knowledge of how important dogs are in our life. Thanks for sharing! :)

I love the photo, where did you get it??? I agree the Native Americans had a much better idea of how man, animal and environment all work together.

Not just indians, but other hardy people as well -- see for instance the Samoyed's role as companion, work dog, warmth and protector for children among the nomads of Siberia :-)

There was an extremely offensive post in this topic this morning. It has been removed and the user banned. Thank you all for your concerns and I can only say, I took care of it as soon as I saw it .

Your quote reminded me of another quote I once read, "God gave us dogs to teach us what unconditional love is"
Thanks for the lovely story.
