Meet Beamer!



She's a Chow x from a high kill shelter in Georgia. She arrived safely on Canadian soil at about midnight last night. I'm going down to Guelph straight after work to pick her up from where she overnighted.

Apparently, she's pretty darn scared. Of people, dogs, houses, cars, etc. Scared, but not showing fear aggression. They've matched her to me because I have a pretty quiet lifestyle and a low key home, which will give her a chance to relax and build up some confidence. Tahsis isn't "in your face" with other dogs, so I think it will be a good fit for everyone.

There was some changes of plans (as there always is in rescue!), and the BC x will be fostering with a friend of mine.

Rocco is a Chow-mix also. So from one Chow to another Welcome Beamer.

Beamer is so pretty. Lynners, of all the places she could land, she managed the best place ...with you. I'm sure she will do extremely well in your care.

Kwak, I didn't realize that Rocco was a Chow cross and he is lovely. Beamer has very similar colouring to Rocco, and she is beautiful too. I'll be looking forward to hearing all about her progress.

Rocco's mom was a golden retriever/chow and his dad was a lab/chow. If you look at his pictures closely you will see he has a solid blue/black tongue. Only him and one of his litter-mates got the black tongue all the rest got spots. If you ever had the opportunity to brush him you would soon be fighting the chow undergrowth.

Beamer's coat looks more like Rocco's sister's in length. But I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't need to be defurminated regularly.
Lynners I hope you found a cheap defurminator, you might just need it will Beamer.

Good luck with Beamer, Lynners. If anyone can teach her that life is good, it's you. Beamer is a great name for a dog, too, especially one with a nice smile!

My furminator arrived today. Kiba is not interested in being brushed right now, and I don't have the energy to make him, but with just a few strokes I can see that this is a wonderful tool! Even on a single coated dog like Kiba.

Beamer is here! She's soooo sweet, but everything is a little scary. Movements, noise, stairs, etc, etc. She's a stressed out doggie....I hope she feels that she can relax soon.

They intro'd when I went to pick her up, and Tahsis was being a bit of a dork so Beamer told her where to go, lol. They are totally ignoring eachother in the house. Which is okay by me!

Lynners, I'm glad Beamer is with you now, safe and sound. I'm sure in just a couple of days she will be far more settled. You know what you are doing. Perhaps even Tahsis and Beamer will start playing in a few days as well.
