New Member, but Longtime Dog Owner

Postby broadway245 on Thu Jul 01, 2010 7:13 pm

Hi everybody,

I just joined a few days ago, so I'm still learning the ropes, so bear with me. :?

I just wanted to make a quick intro, and maybe make some friends. I have been a dog owner since I was 7 years old. My first dog was an AKC Doberman Pinscher - the breeder was training her as a show dog (her dad was an AKC champion). I got her when she was 9 months old, and I grew up with her. She was a great dog who I loved dearly (she died a couple of decades ago.)

I currently have 5 dogs, although my oldest sometimes lives with my parents. He's going to be 16 soon, and my house has stairs and their house doesn't, so when he's especially arthritic, he stays with them. My oldest is an AKC Pekingese who is the apple of my eye. I love that little guy like he's my child. I got him when he was 7 1/2 weeks old, and he'll soon turn 16. My husband and I adopted an abused yellow Lab from the local shelter almost 3 years ago. She is my husband's first dog. A year ago we adopted a big Lab mix from the same shelter. She had been at the shelter for at least 2 years. Goldie is such a sweet girl, and she has taught our Lab how to do so many things. They are the best of friends. Five months ago we adopted a shepherd mix from the same shelter. She had been at the shelter for at least 1 1/2 years, and she is my little girl. I call her my little one and people look at me like I'm crazy - she weighs about 70 lbs., but she's my littlest girl. Finally, in May we got our puppy Talbot. He is so adorable, but he's quite the mischief-maker. He and Posie (shepherd mix) and best buddies.

We have a full house, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Our dogs aren't pets - they are family members, and we love them all.

All the best,

Beth

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm guessing there is a way to post a picture within a message, but I don't know how to do it. I do have pictures of my pack together in my album called "My Furballs".

Thanks again,

Beth

Use Photobucket, it's free and easy to use. Where in the world are you? We have members from all over the planet and many of us are good friends.

Your Furballs album photos are cute.
I imagine it's pretty hard to get that many dogs posing all at once!

Thanks for the info on how to post pictures. I'll read over it tomorrow and maybe give it a try. It is indeed hard to get everyone in the picture, especially Talbot (puppy). All of my dogs either walk away or turn their heads when they hear the digital camera come on. Even my Pekingese who is getting hard of hearing can hear the sound of the digital camera!

I'm in Pennsylvania. I hope to get to know all of you.

Thanks again.

Beth, I always turn on my camera in another room so I can snap candid photos. It's an idea! Photobucket is brilliant, and I managed to figure it out following the instructions. For me that is a feat! Good luck and we'll look forward to seeing your posts all over the Forums, pictures and all (when possible).
