My dog is a real saint... UPDATE!

Postby Equest94 on Sun Sep 05, 2010 4:57 pm

I never thought a 'North American Dingo' (Carolina dog) would make a wonderful chicken-flock guardian...

The real test... the food test:

^^^ 1 ear of corn, 5 hungry mouths...

(^^^ she's not bearing her teeth, just nibbling on the corn)

What a good girl she is. If that were my dogs, they would be ex-chickens.

I love the last photo of them gazing at each other, and the one of the chicken squeezing in, under her head to get corn, and the one of all of them together. Actually just all of them. They're great.

What a sweetie pie your dog is, sharing the corn with the chickens so nicely. I enjoyed every one of your pictures. Big hugs!

Fantastic pictures! I'm not only surprised your dog didn't go after the chickens, I as surprised that the chickens didn't peck at him for eating their corn! They co-exist quite well don't they. I really like the photo of the chicken reaching in, and the photo of them nose to beak. Very cute!

Haha, yes - that's my little Polish hen. She's the newest addition to our family and she seems to have attached quite the bond with Sabina.

Kian, you are a woman of many hidden talents. I had no idea you were so familiar with the various breeds of Chickens, and dare I say, Poultry in general.

I wonder how Ice would be with the chickens. Actually, no I don't because you would teach him how to be, so that's that.

Actually Deb, OH taught me lots about chickens and I like the unusual ones. He is the chicken master in the household.
It will be interesting to see how the dogs respond to them, my last Aussie loved chickens.....they were dinner. We had to fix the coop to keep her out, she couldn't be trusted and yet she was the sweetest thing on the planet and the most gentle dog I have ever known.
