Introducing Jake

Postby rcchi on Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:01 am

Hello all,

My name is Christine and my pup is Jake. We're new to the site, and just recently set up all the goodies as far as profile goes. :D
Jake is about 3 mos and I rescued him from the shelter. He's my first shelter dog and my first "big" dog .. well once he starts growing, which I have a feeling he's doing each day. Ive had him for almost 3 weeks and he's doing great at basic commands, well so far we're only in the 2nd week of puppy basics class. Crate training is been somewhat a difficult task, just because I'm not home enough hours of the day to train him. But please don't be mistaken, he does get the idea of going potty outside. He has occasional accidents, but I think in time he will overcome those feats. He comes with me to work everyday, so thats a definite plus, more quality bonding time and training.

Since he is from the shelter, he's still an unknown breed. They said he was a "lab/golden", but he does not have any golden qualities, although from a side profile he looks like a lab & has some qualities. I still don't know what he is, but I'm going to get him tested next month, so that way all the mystery will be behind my fiance and myself. I'm just getting tired of playing the "oooo maybe he's half of this" game lol.

Jake is like any puppy meaning he's quite the little ball of energy. He has many expressions. He sleeps for most of the time. But when he's not napping he likes to play tug of war, chomp on his squeaky beaver, or plays with his other toys, like in the picture of him sprawled out with his teether rings. He loves people and more than anything he's really quite the attention hog. He likes the dog park, but is still timid around the bigger dogs, but I think that will change when he grows up a bit. He definitely has a charm about him, that warms many people's hearts, more so with mine. He's a great little puppy & I love him to pieces.

I'm sorry I couldn't download any photos, but if you go to my profile and I have pictures of him. Its just that all my photos are larger than 256 KB.

Welcome to DP, Jake is a cutie. When determining mixed breeds, it isn't always to purebreds that are the parents. He does have some lab in him, though in some of the pics his face almost looked like some terrier, hard to say. Sometimes as they age you have a better idea as the change and grow.

That person who dumped puppies in the woods is  Glad they were found and all have good homes. Jake will do fine and be a joy!

Welcome to DP! (hope you have educated that guy on the web feet!)
