Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Nunez and I am new to the Daily Puppy! Please forgive me if I mess up on here, I'm just getting used to it. Anyway, My fiance' Brandon and I have two pups. One is a year old and the other is just an 8 week old baby we adopted yesterday. I have very much forgotten how hard it is to have a puppy again. I think I didn't sleep all night. The new puppy seems to HATE HATE HATE her crate so we had a rough time last night. My other dog took to the crate rather easily so I'm kind of upset today. Anyway, that is how I stumbled upon the daily puppy: I needed some moral support! p.s. And, of course, the puppy pictures!
We all know what hard work it is to have a puppy in the house. As for crate training, I think some dogs take to it easier than others. Patience and perseverance and you will have a happy pup who loves her crate.
Good luck with Matilda and can't wait to see more pictures.
Hello Ashley, Brandon and pups. Welcome to the DP. sorry to hear you had a rough night. Stick with it, she'll get used to it. You could try wrapping a ticking clock in a towel to simulate the mothers heart beat or a hot water bottle (not too hot) to snuggle to. Sometimes covering the crate helps them feel more secure. I leave the front uncovered.
Welcome to the Daily Puppy Ashley, Henry and Matilda, from Oliver & Henry, and their Mum!
The first few weeks are a bit rough, and it is so easy to forget as that time really does pass quickly, just not when you are living it. We're all here to lend support and offer a hand, if asked.
Welcome to the DP. From Rocco, Miley and Me, Kris (Kwak) The first night is the hardest. It does get easier. Stick with it and your new puppy should learn to love her crate.
Welcome to the Daily Puppy Ashley, Brandon, Henry and Matilda! I looked at Henry's photos...he is such a cutie! Hang in there with the crate for Matilda. Tracy has some great suggestions.
Thank you so much everyone. I do agree that it is easy to forget how hard it is quite quickly... The first night was the worst but she is getting much more comfortable. She also went to her first vet visit and was very popular. It's also nice to see Matilda and Henry interact! She still has her spay stitches though so play time is being put on hold for awhile. Once again, thanks to all for the great suggestions and the encouraging words.
