[Nena & Me]

Just occurred to my humble thought process that I had not introduced myself, or my Nena. My apologies.

Hello everyone! I go by my nickname Emmy. I am currently in the military, stationed in Sicily, Italy, and taking on the challenge of raising a puppy on my own. Her name is Nena! She is such a joy to have around the house.

I was told she is a Lab Mix. The more I look around this site and online... the more I think she is not. Bottom line... she is my Nena She loves to run around the house and chase me where ever I go. She just recently learned the art of relaxing to watch tv.

Nena was born 'in the first week of July'. At least that is what I was told. I got her two months later and the vet said that was correct. Her Bday is set to July 2nd, 2010. She has a chocolate color and green eyes. She currently weighs 10 lbs, but eats like a little machine lol

I will also use this thread to keep everyone updated on her status through a series of photos. She loves the camera!

First visit to the vet's office! Nena was very well behaved. They loved her!


First visit to the beach. I think Nena wondered if she should get in. Oh, and yes, I did wear socks with sandals at the beach. I hate sand between my toes... lol


She opted for going in and loved it! She had a lot of fun! She tried to drink the water in this photo. See her tongue? Then decided it was way too salty... lol


Nena is growing fast! She is now well over the blue markings on the wall. Go, Nena, Go!!!

Well welcome formally to DP, Emmy and Nena. Italy sounds like a beautiful place, what country are you serving with?
Her pictures are adorable, she looks very long legged.

I had to chuckle at the socks on the beach and not liking the sand between your toes. I grew up on the S. California coast and I love walking barefoot in the sand.

US Navy.

She is kind of long legged. I get a little worried sometimes because I think she should be a bit thicker. She stays thin, but eats normally.

Funny thing about the sand is that I grew up in Puerto Rico. Lots of beaches and I went all the time... lol

She will fill out as she ages. The U.S. Navy, that is great! I grew up above San Diego, lots of Navy there.

I loved the pictures of Nena. I always enjoy seeing them as babies and as they grow. I too, had to giggle a bit at the shoes and socks in the sand. Just keep posting pictures as we all love them here.

Welcome to the DP Emmy and Nena! That's great that you are able to adopt a pup overseas. She is ever so cute!

My Sasha eats for Canada and she remains quite thin. She is extremely active though. Mali has never grown into his legs. Quite funny to watch him run!

Thank you all for the reassurance! Last time I took Nena to the vet for her shots I was a little nervous. I didn't want the vet to think I was mistreating her. The vet said she was perfect.

Kian, I was stationed in San Diego for three years. I loved that city! Outstanding weather.

Prince, do not worry... I take lots of pics lol. Your dogs look great! I keep seeing dogs with that type of leash. Perhaps I should get one also. Nena tends to spend more time trying to chew it than enjoying her walks.

Linda, give your brother my thanks for his service! Her face was so much smaller just a month ago. It looked so tiny. That stripe going down Sadie's face gives her attitude!

I love Mali's tail! The way it sticks straight down. I believe my Nena will have a color similar to your Shaha when she gets older. Very nice dogs! People don't often realize the harsh times this puppies go through in order to start their lives. Glad you got them! Thanks for sharing how Shasha steals bones from Mali. I have seen dogs do that. It's so funny lol

Sniffer, look at all that hair! Like you, I am a first time puppy owner. Isn't it so much fun!? I learn something new about Nena's behavior just about every day lol
