Remi & Monster (4.26 It's been so long, New Pictures!)

Remi loves to get the mail. Some times I let her carry it in, but last time she dropped some mail in the mud...

Here's some news:
My mom ran into the person we got Remi from (They really wanted to keep her but couldn't because their apartment didn't allow dogs, and they saved her from someone who was just going to leave her on some beach....so they weren't planning on getting and weren't just going to let them leave her on a beach!) and she told him about how she had to have surgery. I'm not sure what he said as she was pretty vague on the details. BUT in the summer they will probably get to have a little reunion, which they will be looking forward to because as I said they REALLY wanted to keep her.

How sad that someone dumped that poor baby on the beach, I'm so happy she was found and given a wonderful home.

Ashley, I think Elliot is the President of the Monster Fan Club, Canadian Chapter! He just adores Monster and he also thinks, as do I, that Remi is a darling.

I just loved the captions. You know I loved the tongue shot. She is being such a good patient and is half way there now.

Your two make the most adorable pair! I absolutely love the last picture of Monster, and yes, in the others he does look like a Mob Boss! Remi simply exudes sweetness.

It would be wonderful to have a reunion with the people that save her, despite being unable to keep her. I'm sure she has a special place in their hearts as well.

Soon I think I'll have to be making T-Shirts for this Monster fan club....

Another thing, the beach that they were going to leave Remi at didn't even allow dogs. Some people I just don't understand.


So we went for a vet visit to get heart-worm prevention and other things.
Monster weighed in at 24.5lbs--the chart said that pugs should weigh between 15-18lbs--Monster's not that flubbery though but did gain some winter pounds that he will shed once spring arrives. Also, I asked the vet about the spots on his eyes and he says that it's because his bottom eyelid is rolled inward so his eyelashes are rubbing against his eyes every time he blinks. He says that we don't have to do anything about it unless we see it's getting worse. The cost for that small surgery would be $350 which seems like petty cash compared to the cost of Remi's surgery.

Remi weighed in at 61lbs. Edit: she weighed 65lbs before the surgery.(could it just be muscle loss from not doing much actives?) We also had our normal vet look at Remi, as we trust them more then the other vet that we had to go to for the surgery, he says that she's looking good and agrees that we should only do the other hip if it bothers her.

That is great news about Remi's check up. She is doing very well, and as you said, I'm sure the loss of a few pounds is muscle loss and perhaps a lower than average appetite.

Monster will shed his winter weight once he is able to run and play with Remi.

I really do hope that Remi will not need another surgery, as I'm sure you do too. Good luck with Monster's eye. As long as he is not bothered, and things remain the same, he should be alright.

We had another member whom we don't see much anymore, go through a similar eye surgery with her Springer Spaniel. It ended up causing some sort of domino effect and what started out as a small issue became a huge one. I'm not saying that will always happen, but less is more and if Monster is managing, best left. I should add that her dog was not doing well and had to have the surgery.

A couple days ago EskimoJo(cat) decided that the bed in Rems room was the place to sleep, so whenever the fence is open he goes to sleep in there(just as I was typing that he actually went to go lay on that bed with Monster )


He doesn't even care when she rolls around. He wants to sleep on that bed!

Then yesterday after one of Remis walks she wouldn't calm down so I locked her in her room and within minutes she was fast asleep. After awhile Eskimo came by and was pacing the cage trying to find a way in, so I opened it up and he just went around her and made himself comfortable behind her. Remi just calmly turned back and they smelled one another and went to sleep. So, I think this could be come a regular thing now.


Remi most of the time naps in her crate though now since she's been able to have more freedom. She loves her crate, with that bed who wouldn't.

EskimoJo is quite a character. All of your fur family are unique, interesting and adorable.

I just loved the photos. As Tracy said, the last one is brilliant. I also enjoyed the one of Remi, on her back, with her legs splayed in the air. She is healing well.

Remi did surely luck out, as Kian mentioned, when she landed in your home.
