Hello from Bear and my dog Lucky!

Hello!
My name is Bear and my puppy is Lucky! Lucky was my saving grace as he has kept my sanity. I moved to a little town up in northern Alberta and was pretty lonely. After three days of being there I came across him on the side of the highway approximately 6 weeks old. His eyes were barely open and still had the blue haze to them. He was damn near starved to death and severely damaged on his face. There was evidence that he was thrown from a car as he had road rash up his forehead, missing the skin on his upper and bottom lip, missing his k9 and a couple other baby teeth on the bottom right side of his mouth. The saddest part is there was evidence of possible brothers and sisters.

It took a month of close care and actually feeding him Enfamil baby formula (low iron) to get him the nutrients in him and fatten him up. I'm glad to say that he has made a full recovery and is a healthy 6 month old shepherd lab cross that is beyond full of energy. He definitely gets bored easily but the loyalty he has is wonderful!
Look forward to talking to people on here and get any advice on this breed possible!!

It is terrible the things people can do to animals! Such cruelty! By the sounds of it, you two saved each other.

Welcome! People can be so cruel. Lucky was one lucky dog you came along. I remember the first time I witnessed a "drop off", it when I was a young teen playing with a friend in her yard that overlooked a busy highway. We looked over the fence down at a woman in our horror, saw her drop off several pups and shoo them away. We climbed the fence and brought each puppy up to the yard. I still don't understand the cruelty of those people.

Unfortunatly from the evidence that was near Lucky there was no other survivors. If Lucky wasn't found the day he was, he would have never made the night. The vet claimed it was a miracle he survived at all. His organs were shutting down and his body should have given out. The Enfamil was the only thing that kept him alive. I really wish I had found them sooner and saved more but one is better then none.
