Herbie is one cute girl. You must have been shocked to see your pup being called by another name and owned by some one not you. It's just the curse of having such an adorable dog to take excellent photos of.

Around the time Remi was 4months I saw my first Corgi puppy that was 3months old and I just saw him the other day. He's gotten so big.

I'm so sorry about the way you were introduced to the Daily Puppy, but we're all glad you're here and that the whole mess is being straightened out. Herbie is just one of the cutest puppies I've ever seen and I loved her video, especially the parts where she was playing in the snow; she's as comical and as adorable as can be! I'll bet she's every bit as wonderful now that she's a year old, too.

So Welcome to the DP from Mary Ann, Jasper and Bella in Indiana. We look forward to seeing more of Herbie Girl!

I hope I didn't go too overboard by calling attention to the whole fiasco, but you'll have to bear with me.. this is my first experience with canine identity theft.

At first I wasn't sure whether to be flattered, or threaten the scammer with a copyright infringement, but they came up with a semi-believable story, aside from the dog being a "pillow sleeper".. Corgi legs are about 3" long, she can't even climb stairs very well, let alone jump into a bed! I guess the main thing I felt all day was confusion about why somebody would do this in the first place. I just don't get it. Maybe if there was a cash prize for the cutest puppy, or some kind of award, I would understand.. but they had nothing to gain as far as I can tell. The only thing that still irks me is seeing all the comments refer to Herbie as Artemis, even after so many comments about it not being Artemis. I also felt the need to password protect my photography website where the photos were taken from, which is a shame. But whoever stole the photos was able to cleverly crop out my signature/watermark in all the photos they uploaded. And I know where they found the photos, because one of them that was posted has only been shared in one place.

Oh well. There are much bigger things to worry about (like raging forest fires burning about 10 miles from my house). Off to take "Artemis" to the dog park to get some photos of her gazing into the smoky sunset. Thanks again for the warm welcome everybody! 8)

Oh my...I missed this yesterday. I did see "Artemis" and thought the description was a bit.......odd. I, like everyone else, am so sorry about the way you were introduced to the Daily Puppy.

Herbie is GORGEOUS!

Welcome to the "real" Daily Puppy from Margie and Jose is snowy Northern Vermont, US.

Congratulations on Herbie Girl being selected as Grown Up Puppy of the Day. It brought a big smile to my face when I viewed the front page and saw her. She has grown from such and adorable baby to a georgous, elegant lady and I know you are very proud of her, as you should be. We look forward to seeing many more pictures of her through the forums in the future and are so glad that you are here.

WOW. I was totally fooled. I expected kids to find stock photos from google images, but I never imagined anyone would steal an entire album and claim a puppy as their own. I had been previously putoff by the negativity towards young daily puppy viewers, but now I understand the extent of the problem. I'm pretty new to the Daily Puppy scene.

By the way, Herbie is ADORABLE. I have always had a soft spot for corgi puppies with their giant ears and silly little legs. I actually showed my roommate pictures of your pup when she was "Artemus" because she was just so darn cute! I'm so glad she is grown up puppy of the day! She deserves it and so do you!

Ps- woohoo princelover, representing NC (also my homeland)

I'm sorry this has happened...It IS rather annoying to have somebody else using pictures you've taken, copyrighted and set free into the world of google for others to view. It would be ten times more annoying to have somebody take pictures of your pooch and use them as their own.

However...You have to admire the creativity. The theif managed to think up a whole life story for 'Artemis'.

I, too, am glad you aren't too off-put about the whole situation. :) Congratulations on getting her featured today, not that it was very hard. Herbie is beautiful, and I'm glad you chose to share the sweetie with us all.

Has/can anything be(en) done about 'Artemis' and his 'owner'? I know the mods have limited 'powers' regarding the dogs/puppies added and accepted as featured dogs, but I'm not sure how limited... :?

Not sure, but the person may have already been banned, although that would probably only mean that they can no longer log in under that account. It's hard to stop somebody from creating another account, but I don't think the person is going to be back. I'm sure it was just a kid goofing around, but they certainly picked the wrong pooch to steal. Heck, I was notified about the whole thing Sunday morning by somebody who happened to browse the Daily Puppy that day and recognized Herbie from one of the 15,000 photos I've posted in various places around the 'net. She's probably the most photographed dog in the world, maybe second only to Queen Elizabeth's flock of Corgis. :D

I did send the fake user a message when it was first discovered and told them they can either disappear, admit they stole the photos, or challenge me to a "photo-off" to prove who the real owner is. I was almost hoping they tried to challenge me, because there's no shortage of overwhelming proof that she's my dog. There's a shot of her as a puppy laying on her back on top of newspapers that was included, and I bet I could zoom in on the original photo and enlarge the date of the paper.. which would have been months before "Artemis" was even born. The tag on her collar says "Herbie" and it's *almost* visible in a few of the photos. The YouTube videos I made using some of the same photos were uploaded in early 2010, again before "Artemis" was born. But none of that was easily apparent to the admins of the site, so I have absolutely NO hard feelings about it not being caught. I'm also an admin on a local forum and know all about the shenanigans people try pull.

So I've just laughed it off and moved on. And like somebody said earlier, maybe she's the first puppy to be featured twice, so that's kinda cool. 8)

Oh, the other thing I was going to mention, if this is something that happens frequently.. it might be a good idea to require that a Puppy of the Day submission includes a photo of the dog with a hand written note (similar to what I did to oust the faker) with a code word or the current date or something, just to prove you actually own the dog. But that's probably a major pain in the rear for both users and admins, and I doubt anybody wants to get into that level of policing.

Again, no real harm done. Thousands of people have now seen cute puppy photos and I'll have a funny story to share with Herbie's grandkids. :)

That's actually not a bad idea, and I can't see why it would be a problem for either party. I took dozens of pics of Kiba for his submission, there would have been nothing stopping me taking one with the day's date written on a card or something.

You know, ever since this started and everyone jumped to your defence, I've had the strangest worry that YOU might turn out to be the fake! Must be from raising a son who could lie bald-faced with genuine tears, making us feel terrible about the accusation, and then we'd find out later he was lying. So, please, for my own peace of mind, PLEASE remain the nice, normal lady that you seem to be, OK? I sure would appreciate it!
