I miss her

Postby cofiredep on Tue Jan 06, 2009 9:52 am

The last week had been hard without Gracie. On January 2, 09 was two months since Gracie was put to sleep. I miss her so much. I want her back. She was my best friend. Sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night and start crying because I miss her so much.

I am so sorry for your loss. We all understand that here. Today is 4 months to the day that we had to put our Sammy down. If I think of him, I start to cry. I miss him so much but I know right now he is in a place that the cancer in his bones no longer hurt, he can run and play without pain and I'll take all the pain and feelings of loss so he doesn't have to suffer.

You are in my thoughts cofiredep.

I've been thinking about you since you lost Gracie and wondering how you were doing. It takes a long time, if not forever, to not miss someone we loved so much. It's so normal to miss her and be sad, as no matter how old we become, we still feel the same. Know that Gracie loves you and wants you to be happy and think of her with a smile. I'm sure your father is missing her very much as well. Gracie is watching over you and in the quietest of moments, she is right there beside you. "Until we meet again..." and we will :) I'm sending you a healing hug. Deborah, Oliver's Mummy

It doesn't matter how many dogs we have in a lifetime, they all touch our lives in very special and loving ways. I too believe they are with us and they know the love you gave them in their life with you. My hubby and I still talk about our dogs we have loved and lost, they are great memories to hold on too. Hugs to you for comfort and peace that Gracie would want to return back to you.

I still miss all my fur kids, they are all special and when they leave there's always a place in our hearts just for them.
We all grieve in our own way, eventually it doesn't hurt so much and we can smile too when we think of them.

I tried to post on this one yesterday but it kept giving me an error. Hopefully this works today.

I wanted to add my heartfelt wishes to you too. I totally understand how you feel, I was the same way after Boomer passed away. It did help me when we decided to adopt Sadie. I knew I could never replace Boomer (although I would have loved to just have him back all healthy!). But it helped to open my heart to an new furry baby. I still love Boomer as much as ever and always will, but there was room in there for my love for Sadie too. Someday you will get to this point where it is not quite so painful and you can remember Gracie with all of the warm fuzzy memories you have of her. My heart and my thoughts are with you, take care.

My heart breaks for you. We all feel like that when we lose a pet. One day you'll have another new friend who will never take the place of Gracie, but will bring you new joys and new experiences and will help your heart heal. You are experiencing one of life's toughest trials and it will take a while to heal, but you will. Gracie is always with you! Oliver and I are sending hugs your way.

We all know how you feel. We have had several dogs throughout the years and loved them all-they give you such unconditional love that you can't help returning it. It takes a long time to get to where you can smile and not cry over someone you've lost. Try to remember the good times. Think of all of the things that Gracie did to make you smile. I'm pretty sure she was a Bernese or Swiss Mountain Dog and I know from experience that they are such clowns. You'll make it through this, I know you will. I went into a depression when our Golden Retriever passed away suddenly but when our Jake came into our lives, I took the risk again and let my heart love him. Open your heart to this new puppy-even though we only have them for a short time, its so worth it :D
