A friend of mine took her in, the humane society was so worried she wouldn't find a home, they gave her to my friend.
She was 12 years old, deaf, and going blind. For the first 11 years of her life she had been tied up outside and ignored. The humane society said that when she was rescued she had matted fur so bad that when they started to shave her there were maggots in her mats.
My friend kept her for a year and then was in a terrible car accident where she broke both her legs.
She couldn't care for her dogs so her friends all came to the rescue.
I took in Abby.
I loved Abby so much that when my friend was healed (after many surgeries) she said that the didn't want to move Abby again.
Abby lived with me for almost 2 years when we discovered a brain tumor. I wanted to do everything to save her life, but the vet said that a dog of her age would not make it through a surgery that intense or the therapies to get rid of the tumor.
She died at the age of 15 sleeping on her favorite blanket (which not belongs to Jack)
I'll never forget what a joy she was to have.
Even though she had been through so much neglect and abuse. Even though she was deaf and almost blind, she loved everyone. Nothing made her happier than a hug and a pat on the head.
She was a very sweet dog, and I wish the majority of her life had been spent sleeping on her favorite blanket at the end of my bed.
She passed 2 years ago, and I was devastated, but it was her time.
This is my Abby.
