Emma is a very beautiful girl, your tribute to her touched my heart. She reminds me of my beloved Goldens. My first Golden, Bear, died only two months before your Emma on 2/5/98. My heart melted completely when I read how you said Oliver has a part of Emma through her red patches. I feel this way about our Teddy, he has golden fur in his brindle coat and a small patch of white fur on his chest... a constant, comforting reminder of our Goldens and our Snowy :)

Cricket, I have read your posts about Snowy and your Goldens. Even though it seems so long ago, they never truly leave us, do they. Bless you for rescuing your angels and my deepest sympathies for your loss.

Oliver's Mummy,
Thank you so very much for your kind words. No, they never do leave us after they are gone, they will forever be in our hearts... 'til we meet again :) Emma is so beautiful... I've had two males but never a female Golden and would love to someday. I also would love to have a Cavalier someday, especially if they have (like you say) the disposition of a Golden :D Lots of hugs to Oliver, he is such a cutie pie!

Cricket, Cavaliers really are like Goldens, only in a smaller package and slightly less intelligent, or so they pretend 8)  Cavaliers are not like most small dogs in my opinion. Every morning after breakfast, Oliver insists on cuddle time, complete with ear schnizzles, hugs which include laying his head on my shoulder, and sitting in my lap, whether I wish it or not. Emma was very similar, but with less licking.

Oliver's Mummy,
Awe.... Lol! I love how you explain a Cavalier :D With a face like Oliver's, who wouldn't want him on their lap looking for cuddles? If Goldens could fit in our laps they would truly be lap dogs  Your Emma wasn't a licker? My Beau was such a kisser, if you didn't stop him he would lick your face off! Like Oliver, my Teddy is a lap dog and I love it... he's my very first lap dog

p.s. what are "ear schnizzles"? lol!

Ear schnizzles involve searching for Mummy's ear through her hair with a small, wet nose while constantly exhaling through said nose, until ear is found. Once found, a gentle, slow lick of the lobe is performed, tail wagging through entire procedure. Sally, my Lab was a huge licker, but Emma only gave away her sweet kisses once in a while. Oliver loves to give kisses and will on command. Cricket you are also correct about Goldens being lap dogs if they could. I do enjoy the cuddles.

 I'm cracking up over your description of "ear schnizzles"... that is way too cute! I could almost feel the tickling in my ear while reading that :D Awe... my Beau would give kisses on command too, just like Oliver, but Snowy was like Emma and reserved his sweet kisses, so those were extra special. I also enjoy the cuddles I get from all my furr-babies... including my cats, Baxter and Ginger

I've been thinking about my friend Emma all day. I found this old picture of her, when she was just 9 months old. One can even see that the fur around her "belly button" has yet to grow in.

Emma really wants to eat that pine cone, and I am asking her nicely to drop it. This is the face she gave me which is saying, "but I don't want to Mummy": (Sorry for the white spaces! )

Here is Emma at age 2 on Christmas Eve.

I still miss you sweetheart! Love, Mummy, Benjamin and Elliot xo

Miss Emma was simply beautiful with such a gentle loving face. What a lovely tribute to her. I, too, am sure she helped in the arrangements of sending both Oliver and Henry to you to love and cherish. Each and every one of our pups leaves those special paw prints on our hearts that will stay there forever. Run, sweet Emma, run, at the beautiful place called Rainbow Bridge until you see your mistress come for you.

Kian, Sher, and Cyndy - thank you so much for indulging me. Emma most certainly did have a profound impact on my life and my heart. She was the only one who was there when I was most alone, and always made me smile.

Sher, I have no doubt that she hand picked especially Oliver for me, and I think my sweet Sally had a "paw" in selecting Henry. The two of them were a team ultimately, like Oliver and Henry are now. I'm so blessed to have had the good fortune of loving such wonderful dogs.

At a time in my life when I thought it would be just me and Emma forever, I was truly content. When she had to go, it seemed far too soon and I felt like I never had the chance to really mourn my loss as it was Easter Weekend, and Elliot's 2nd Birthday. I had already discovered Cavaliers, but was denied the ability to have one to fill the void for Sally and myself at the time. Oliver has been that bridge which is a mighty load to bear for one wee boy. Now that his health is precarious at best, and it's been 14 years, I think that at some point the circle will be completed.

Emma brought me such joy, and I only hope I gave her as much in return. Every day, in every way, I honour her memory by loving another.
