I am a fan of classics I enjoyed many books like "Great Expectations", "The Secret Garden", "A Little Princess", "The Three Musketeers, the "Emily of New Moon" series, and all the books done by Lisi Harrison, and Tracie Peterson.

My favorite authors are Frances Burnett Hodgson, and L.M Montgomery.

It's a kids book but, Warriors the Power Of Three by Erin Hunter is pretty good. I'm not done with the series yet but so far I really like it! She also has another series called Seekers which is about bears. I'd like to read those too! Oh, Warriors is about cats. :D

Is this is the James Patterson series? I loved the first book: Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment! I didn't know there were any sequels out, guess I've been out of the loop for a while  . I need to get the rest of these!!

Has anyone read "A Big Little Life" by Dean Koontz?

Very similar to Marley & Me but Dean Koontz wrote it about his golden retriever Trixie.. Such a good book, different to Marley & Me as its not about the naughtiest dog in the world but an incredibly well trained ex-companion dog :)

Since reading it I've been on a mission to read every Dean Koontz book lol..in the book he talks about a few of his other books that he wrote while they had Trixie. I highly recommend this book :)

I'm reading 'For The Love of A Dog' by Patricia McConnell and while non fiction it is an extremely good book and a very interesting read so far. Has anyone else read it?

I can't think of a good way to describe it, so here's the description off the back of the book:
"For those of use who deeply cherish our dogs but are often baffled by their behavior, For the Love of a Dog is a revelation---offering dog owners everywhere a new understanding of the complex web of emotions that sometimes bind, and other times damage, our relationship with dogs. As animal behaviorist and zoologist Dr. Patricia McConnell tells us in this remarkable book, more and more scientists accept the premis that dogs have rich emotional lives, exhibiting a wide range of feelings, including fear, anger, surprise, sadness, and love. McConnell suggests that dogs express emotions in ways similar to humans, and shows us how to read the more subtle expressions hidden behind fuzzy faces and floppy ears.

Those who consider their dogs part of the family will find For the Love of a Dog engaging, enlightening, and utterly engrossing. Packed with informed speculation and intriguing accounts of man's best friend at his worst and at his very best, this book is a treasure trove that will teach us how to have a richer, more rewarding relationship with our dogs"

Amber that book sounds really good! I'll see if I can find it at the library. Thanks for the suggestion.

I did read The Art of Racing The Rain by Garth Stein. It was suggested by a couple of people in Chit Chat. It was a very good book written from a dogs point of view.

I do enjoy a good book with anything to do with dogs.

Mary, I've heard that book mentioned before but no one took the time to put a proper description to it.

I would love to read it, and I think the OH would really enjoy it as well. He needs a good book or something to occupy his mind and time.

I need to make more time for myself to read. I really enjoyed the reading I did while away with the boys, and when I took a few days for myself. I read four books in no time, and I've not read another, in its entirety since.

I've heard of For the Love of a Dog too and should add it to my list.

I was looking for a book light (at Target) last week and noticed a book with a brown curly haired dog on the front. I resisted picking it up. I am interested in a Kindle, but told myself NO more books and no Kindle until I read what I already have. Later that day my brother (knowing I like dog stories) called to tell me I had to get a book called "Huck". He had seen the author interviewed on David Letterman and Dave really raved about it. I thought about it for a few minutes and asked if the book had a brown curly haired dog on the cover...sure enough it was the one I had seen earlier.

 I ended up at the book store looking for my book light and I not only got the light, the "Huck" book, but also picked up the book "A Big Little Life" that Macy Moo mentioned! I couldn't help myself! The "Huck" book had never been opened and it cracked when I started to open it!!!

Hello, my name is Kris, and I am a book hoarder!! I counted, 25 books waiting to be read!! :o
I'm like Deb, I don't read often, but I can't resist buying books, so I have a new goal: Make time to read one book per month. When those are read, I can have a Kindle.

Linda, another book written in the dog's voice, called "Dog on It" has also been recommended as a cute read.

 I need help.

I've just finished a book called "Crank" by Ellen Hopkins. Its about this 16 year old thats a straight A student. She goes to her dads for the summer. And meets this guy, and then she started doing drugs. IT is really really sad, and after I was done, I was so sad :( I don't really read books, but after reading this, I'm going to buy more of her books. At walmart the books are on sale 2 for $15 :)
