Oops,..and oops again,...i met a lady,...and i do mean Lady on one of my recent trips,...i told her all about my ability to cook nice dishes,...we toured a bit,...i invited her to Ireland,..as i always do with people,...my cooking will be tested this week end,...she arrived at Shannon Airport this morning,....i have got rid of all the dust and dust bunnies,...washed the dogs,.....and tomorrow i will be tested,..oh she is staying in a guest house,...otherwise the dogs would be jealous!,.....me and my big mouth,...oh well,....Valentines day is the day before she returns to the States.

hi Tracy,
exciting,.....i could not sleep last night,..dusting,...with a paint brush,....heavy dust!,..nerves are shattered,..hits me in waves,..it was not expected,...i would need at least a weeks warning,....cooking the dinner in my head,...roast the chicken,..stuff the chicken,..home made stuffing,....roast spuds,...mashed spuds,...cauliflower and cheese sauce,...dessert is apple pie (from store),..with fresh cream,....White wine,...12% vol,...it might help!,....cheeseboard and coffee,....still not sure about the starter,..i have a feeling i may never be the same again,...but i will try to post in the forum,..no matter how fried my brain is,...how much material goes into a wedding dress,...omg,...what am i thinking!

What on Earth is dump cake?

Here's how I make it.
1 15 oz can of fruit (any kind) (do not drain)
1 15 oz can of pie filling (any kind)
1 box cake mix (any kind)
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup brown sugar

I bake it in a 9x13 pan, mix together the fruit and pie filling, sprinkle the cake mix on top, dot with butter and sprinkle the brown sugar over the top. Bake at 350 for @ 50 - 60 minutes.
You can get so creative with this mixing and matching!
I've never made it in a dutch oven.......would like more details on that!

This is my recipe for dump cake. Mine is a little different since I make it in the dutch oven (can make in a 9x13 pan)

Dump cake mix in Dutch oven (any flavor depending your mood)
I like yellow cake mix
melt stick of butter and pour over cake mix
pour 1 can of sprite over it
and spread a can of pie filling over it.
Cook like GwdGma does. Yummy!!

When fresh peaches are in season we subsitute the pie filling for fresh peaches. Taste great when camping in the great outdoors.

So you do literally dump the ingredients in a baking tin? I think we need to try this. Is it actually as easy as it looks?

Philip, if you want an easy stressfree starter, just layer alternate slices of melon and Parma ham (or smoked salmon)in a fan shape. It looks pretty and tastes nice.

Ha, ha, I thought you liked the carefree bachelor life and weren't interested in a relationship? Otherwise I'd have sent my mother over to meet you although she's probably a bit old for you.
