Happy Valentine's Day to you and Oliver, too. Lexy is now madly in love with her Valentine for being thoughtful enough to send her a beautiful rose. She sends nuzzles and puppy kisses to Oliver to say thank you!

As for me, I am enjoying lying here on the couch spending time on the DP and trying to take it easy. Thanks for making me smile, as usual. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 :)

I'm so glad Lexy liked the rose Oliver chose for her. I was trying to take a new picture of Oliver for Lexy and I did take several, but photobucket cuts off half of his face in the one I really liked. I should put it in his album. I apologize for his slightly messy eye. He seems to have runny eyes today for some reason. That comes and goes with him. Angie, I'm glad you are having a relaxing afternoon. That is a lovely gift in itself.

My roses arrived before 8:00 a.m. this morning and we didn't hear the door. Apparently, the delivery person woke up my neighbour and he accepted them. My OH then discovered a tag on the door and was running through the snow in his "bed shorts" and high boots looking for the roses. He went to the wrong neighbour first, all before 9:00 a.m. on a Saturday. He then re-awoke the neighbour who did in fact, have the flowers. Every Valentine's since the OH and I have been together, he always manages to surprise me somehow even though I know I will most likely receive a dozen red roses. He is also the only man ever (in my life except my Dad, who gave me pink!) to do that, every year, no matter what!

Deborah those roses are lovely. Loki sent a card to Cassie that SS and I helped him make. He hasn't heard anything back yet.

OH and I refuse to do the commercial side of Valentines day so it's homemade cards, poetry and homecooked meals in our house and NO CHAMPAGNE! (see other thread)

Happy Valentines day Everyone slightly belated.

I'm glad everyone had a good day, it seems. The OH, not unlike Marco's Daddy is repenting a little himself, so his efforts were not entirely pure!

Loki's Mum...I like the idea of homemade cards, poetry, and a lovely meal at home. Very truly romantic

BigRockKiller and I were babysitting the grands this weekend, while my daughter and her husband were away for the weekend. He had mentioned that he hadn't had a chance to pick up anything for V-day yet, and I glad, as I hadn't yet either.

To my surprise, he was ready on Valentine's Day morning, before we went over to the mainland. He had a lovely stuffed bear (I know, weird, but I collect them and they live on my bed), a wonderful card, and a sack full of Lindor's Truffles (my favourite!). Oh, and an empty toilet paper roll, but that's between him and I...

So he recieved nothing, as I thought we would shop that day over there. We picked up some live dungeoness crab for dinner, and headed up to the kids'.

So I wrote him a poem instead. Just for background, he works in a limestone quarry, running a loader. (Hence the BigRockKiller handle...). Actually, he's Fred Flintstone, and I have a great pic of him with his "dinosaur" if anyone wants to see it...
http://s694.photobucket.com/albums/vv30 ... MG1880.jpg

And here's his poem:

A Hero…

A hero does not wear a cape
He wears a safety vest

A hero does not fly through the air
He digs in the earth

A hero does not fight crime
He serves his family and his community

A hero is not always strong and invulnerable
He goes on in spite of the pain and worry

A hero does not receive medals
He receives a pay check

A hero does not rescue damsels
He cares for his wife and children

A hero does not have an alter-ego
He has a moustache

A hero does not need accolades
Neither does mine,

But he’s worth every one he doesn’t get.

I love you very much.
Thanks for being my hero.
