A confident woman never expects her man to be jealous as she expects him to be as confident as her. I love the "Nothing Box"...it so typifies women and men, in a very broad sense.

Sandy, you landed on your feet and I'm so glad for that.

Linda, isn't that hilarious?!

Jealousy is not love, it's possession. My husband was jealous when we were young (we were 16 and 18 when we started dating, 17 and 19 when we started living together). Once I grew up, and learned to be an adult (what a journey THAT was!) I told my husband how insulting I found his jealousy. He was astonished. I explained that it made me feel untrustworthy and suspect. As I had done nothing to earn his distrust, it was insulting that he didn't trust me to be true to him. He had never thought of it that way. To him, his jealousy was an expression of love and caring. Once he saw that it was virtually the opposite, it ended. He just couldn't be jealous anymore, since he had no reason to be. The very things he was jealous about were the things that proved he had no reason to be jealous! To guard some one's trust, devotion and faithfulness by doubting them is senseless.

And I loved him all the more for his ability to let me go. And surprise, I never went anywhere!

Off on vacation tomorrow! 76 F. in Apache Junction today!! Yeehaw!!

Phyrie have a great time!! We will be in Phoenix in March, looking forward to feeling the sun again :)

Sandy I feel for you more than you know. Without turning this into a love gone bad thread, I will just add it's amazing how strong we really are when finally land on our feet again! I'm sure you found that to true.

Yep, jealousy isn't love, enough said. I'm just sorry that happened to you Philip, you sound like a wonderful man!

Deborah I hope you feeling better about leaving, I'm very sure OH and Oliver will be just fine. I think as women we tend to worry more about the details and forget about living. Go have a great time my friend, the time spent with your sons are moments dear. When you return, the house maybe a little messier, a little more wash to be done and Oliver no worse for wear. Just smile and thank God for a wonderful family!! (and if there is a computer nearby, please let us know how the vacation is going!) If not, we too will miss you :)

Okay, some of the stuff posted here got kind of deep! I won't comment on those, not because I don't care (I'm become very fond of you all), but because I don't have the gift of putting words together as beautifully as some of you (Phyrie!) and don't want to risk foot-in-mouth disease! So, I'll stay with the light-hearted:

Sandy...Who would have thought that a few "innocent" comments from another thread would result in a buzz word for fun and silliness---Snausages!!!? We ought to start another thread in "Off Topic" about silly-sounding words that make us smile!

Those of you going on trips soon...Have fun!

I really did start this thread to be more on the amusing side, but also to vent. So many times I read little snippets in other threads about "mistakes made" that I thought one big thread could be amusing. A wise man once told me if you have to tell someone you're kidding, it isn't funny! (My father  )

I am not at all worried about the OH and Oliver as he would lay down his life for that dog. He loves Oliver so much. The only other time we went away, Oliver stayed with his Grandparents and it was the OH who couldn't wait to come home because he missed Oliver SO much. He had tears in his eyes when he saw Oliver after only 10 days.

The house will actually probably be cleaner as the boys won't be home...lol and although Oliver will miss us, everyone will be fine. I put the finishing touches on the trip today, including renting a convertible (yee-haw!) and I am going away with absolutely no misgivings whatsoever.

I like the idea of a thread about "silly words"! I am personally fond of words that sound like what they are, i.e., "snap" or "whisper".

Everyone having an upcoming vacation, enjoy! Phyrie, I'm not sure if you've left yet so I'll err on the side of caution and wish you a Bon Voyage!

I may just have access to a computer while I'm gone, and obviously if I do, I'll be posting here and there. Thanks everyone for your genuine concern. Everything really is alright

Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts. Sometimes I just have to vent, and this seemed like one of those times. But yes, we (kids, dog & me) did land on our feet and they are pretty nice adults now so I guess I did good. Deborah, you are so right when you say everything really is alright. I didn't mean to turn this into a soap opera.

So, Deborah, have a great holiday and enjoy that convertible. Last time I was in one with the top down, it was in the Rockies, and a hungry black bear (more likely a "street" bear) ambled over to beg some food. We left in a hurry. Deborah, Arizona is it? Watch out for hungry cactus - I hear they can be pretty aggressive!

Hugs,
Sandy

Bless you Sandy...it's the other Cavy human that is going to Arizona...Phyrie. I am heading to Palm Beach in Florida. Our trip starts on Wednesday, March 11th, as soon as the boys finish school. We are driving to Detroit and staying the night there as our flight leaves there very early the following morning. It is the same distance from London to Detroit or Toronto and this way I do Customs in the car...much easier. I am SO excited!

My family has a place there, so it's like going home in a way. There are toys that were acquired for Ben when he was a baby still there, left with the hopes of future Grandchildren, which were fulfilled. Most of my mother's art is there. I used to spend every February there with my parents when Ben was a baby, and then with Ben and Elliot. It is so peaceful as all one can hear is the waves crashing against the shore constantly.

One of my sisters-in-law (I have 4 brothers) commented that she found it hard to sleep with the sound of the ocean!!! LOL!

Oops! Maybe it was palm trees that are aggressive!

Ah, the ocean - I love the ocean. Just seems to float you away, not hard to sleep at all! Your s-i-l doesn't know what she's missing. Do you have room for stow-aways?

Have a great trip with the boys! What a nice time to go. Take care!

More hugs,
Sandy

Sandy, you are so cute! Aggressive Palm Trees....lovely  Maybe it's because we live in Canada, I always know I'm on vacation when I see a Palm Tree, so I have an infinity to them.

Of course there's room for a stow-away...meet me there

I have one brother and he and my SIL have a home in Virginia Beach. She also does not like the ocean! :o She said she doesn't like the fishy smell......... I guess I don't notice that, I just like the sand, the sun and the surf!!
