As some of you allready know I am Richard,I live in a small college town in SW Ohio [USA} Yellow Springs is 20 miles east of Dayton and is a beautiful woodsy place filled with happy smileing people.Everyone loves it here ,unlike many small towns there is allways plenty to do .
The village is a favorite destination for folks in the surrounding cities,we have 7 resturants 2 coffee shops 2 anitque taverns several pizza places and lots of shops selling imports handicafts and art of all kinds, one not so antique tavern which is a venue for big name bands. There is also music of all kinds from time to time in various other locations about town. It is not unusual to find an impromptu performance by local street musicians downtown. We have an annual 3 day Blues festival and 2 street fairs {spring and fall] Also a movie theater showing quallity films from around the world and a weekly farmers market each saturday, all this and more in a town with less than 5000 people.
Oh yes we also have lots of great dogs who are ever present. We Welcome visitors with dogs so there is a lot of doggie socialiseing too. It is a great place to train your dog to be polite with other dogs and approved strangers. When we had puppies we allways took them downtown one or two at a time [after they had all their shots at least once or twice] to let people play with them.
We have a large natural aerea along the east edge of town called Glen Helen with waterfalls, ravines, and springs,Especially the famous Yellow Spring which gives the town its name. This adjoins a state park "Clffton Gorge" that runs about 10 miles to the east.So if you cant find anything to do around here youre not really trying. We have 4 seasons and the trees are all in colour right now, lots of brilliant reds and yellows and the smell of wood smoke is in the air. Im begining to sound like the chamber of commerce but we DO like it here. LOL Richard.
