Bread Pudding (not my mum's recipe but I think it's close)

225g (8oz) Stale Bread
110g (4oz) Currants, Raisins or Sultanas
50g (2oz) Brown Sugar
50g (2oz) Butter
½ tsp Mixed Spice
1 Egg
Milk

Pre-heat oven to 170°C: 325°F: Gas 3
Break bread into small pieces; soak in cold water at least 1 hour
Strain and squeeze out as dry as possible.
Place into a basin and mash with a fork.
Add the dried fruit, sugar, mixed peel and mixed spice, mixing well.
Add the egg and enough milk to enable the mixture to drop easily from a spoon.
Place into a greased baking tin.
Bake for about an hour or until slightly firm to the touch.

Thanks for the recipes! I love bread pudding and never knew how to make it. I told my OH a while ago that I was collecting some good recipes from the DP and that some were from England and Canada.......he just smiled.......he knows me and my "new" recipes! But at least these I know are tried and true ones and will be good! Oh and he did ask me if they were dog treat recipes........I said no these are actually people food recipes!!

Thanks! Can't wait to try them!!

Yummy, yummy, yummy!!! It's funny that I knew what sultana's were and then I realized it's because my Mum is English. I can translate American into English and vice versa

Linda, I forgot all about the chili recipe until now. Ben has made my day rather interesting to say the least! Nothing like a 17 year old boy

Wow I love learning the American/English differences! I never knew sultanas weren't sultanas over there :) I really fancy some now though..... SULTANAS :D
I like bread and butter pudding! Never tried bread pudding.
I just went to the Chinese the other day - pineapple fritters are surprisingly lovely! (With vanilla icecream they're best)

This is what we are having for Dinner tonight, it is now all made just has to be put in the oven to heat it through.

Chicken Noodle Casserole

3 cups cooked chicken
4 cups cooked egg noodles (I like the wide)
2 cups shredded cheese, (plus a bit more for the end)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups frozen peas or other vegetable of your choice.
(tonight we have broccoli)
2 soup cans of milk
1 tsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. lemon pepper

Mix all together and put in a buttered pan, I use a glass 9 inch by 13 inch pan.
Cover with foil or crush cracker crumbs on top.
Bake at 350* oven for about 30-45 minutes, if not using crackers in the last 15 minutes, add more cheese.
I love my dogs, they keep me focused!

The recipe I read calls for salt and pepper, and I didn't add it 1 tsp. salt , 1/2 pepper, I found while eating that it needed some.

Here's an easy one, very popular at camp and bake sales:
It's called Trash (although a lot more appetizing than the name suggests)

Get some Chex cereal. NOT Chex Mix, because Chex Mix has chips and those puffy things in them. You can still add pretzels, though. Melt some chocolate (dark or milk, whatever you prefer) on the stove until it is almost a fluid. Do not make it too gooey or it won't stick. Pour the chocolate on your Chex Cereal after putting it in a bowl. Mix it up so the chocolate spreads to almost every piece. Add powdered sugar if you want. I prefer the powdered sugar :P
Let it cool so it is hard and the chocolate isn't gooey anymore. Now enjoy!!!
