Sadly all American Dairy products are banned in 95 per cent of the world,..and that includes Canada,..American Farmers are classed as the worst in the world for injecting Beef and Dairy cows with banned substances,..in dairy products its rBGH,..we have harped over this to visiting American Farmers,..they say when we return home we will push for the ban to be lifted,..its years and years since the ban was imposed,..but farmers never rectified the problem.
Sad, but true. I am very thankful to live in Vermont and have access to some of the best cheese anywhere - Cabot Cheese. It is made with all rGBH free dairy - all the dairy farmers who are a part of the Cabot Co-operative have to be registered as hormone free dairies. Cabot actually wins international prizes for their cheese. Cabot Hunter Sharp Cheddar...mmmm...great, I have to go to the store to buy some now!
And Tracy - yes, Monteray Jack Cheese with chili peppers...
Umm, hello!!! WI=cheese, hee hee!! Although I did grow up on VT cheddar... We have cheese in every variety: buffalo wing, chicken soup, tomato basil, salami, blueberry, cranberry, cherry, 3-10 year aged cheddar....the list goes on and on!
Margie,..that's great to know!,....good for the farmers of the Cabot Co Op,...rGBH free,...on my three trips to the USA,..i found the beef steaks tasted nicer than ours at home,..this was down to the different grass types and herbs in the grazing,..but to eat it long term,...no thanks,..unless i was in around the Cabot Co Op area, .
Cheese,..i just love it,..when visiting Tracy,..the home of Stilton,..i had to have some of course,...the stronger the taste the more i love it.
Alina, I can't see you as a "Cheesehead", although those hats are funny. However, I thought that Sniffers would be adorable as a "Cheesehead". Surely there is somewhere there that sells teeny-weeny Cheesehead hats for dogs. I would pay money to see Sniffers in one of those hats! (Woolly man optional )
Slow Cooker Applesauce 8 cups of apples, peeled and chopped (I cut them into eighths) 1/2 cup of brown sugar 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
Place all the ingredients in your crock pot. Give it a stir to combine everything. Cook on high setting for approximately 3 hours, until apples are soft. (time could vary depending on the crock pot) Mash it all up with a potato masher if you prefer it chunky. For a smoother sauce, use a blender or food processor.
I'm printing your recipe RJM! We're going to the local orchard soon, they have the best Golden Delicious apples! I'll get some good cooking apples too. Do you remember what kind of apples you used?
Oh, I just printed this page and it came out perfect. The recipe is at the top of the page (actually page 4 of 5) and Ruby and Kessler are there too. Then below is Allie and Ice. I'll treasure this recipe forever
