I do love the "tongue shot" (aka fang shot) of Ziggy. I just mentioned in Ashley's other thread how much I love the character of all of her fur family! :D

I'm not even going to touch the statements about "Raw" vs. "Not Raw". :P

Keep the pictures coming, raw or not!

Kian, I was reading about macro photography this week, and they (who is "they"?) say that a fixed lens is the way to go if you're going to use extension tubes. I don't know if that's true, but I do know that I have a hard time finding a focus with my zoom lens, and I can only use the middle tube. I simply can't find a focus with the shorter or longer one, at all.

Nezza ~ I love those shots! Looks like a beautiful area. (:

Phyrie ~ Kiba is absolutely adorable! I think that's a fantastic shot of him. (:

remsleep ~ Zoggy is adorable! I love the action shot. ;)

Thanks everyone for the comments on my photo's. Really love hearing the feedback. (:

I got three of me (In a way..) to share today. I'm really proud of this one. My POD yesterday.

Then two of my eye (similar editing to how I did mums eye.) (: So you can see the big difference in our eye colour!

Ahhhh Phyrie, but it is great photography! That is an excellent photo, you captured him perfectly.

I use my 18-55 lens when doing macro, and when using the macro tubes. So far I haven't had any problems getting a focus on what I'm trying to get a photo of. But when I use the tubes it's very up close and personal with my subject  I use the tubes for capturing photos of tiny things only. It does make sense to use a fixed lens though, I keep mine set, so that does make sense to me.

Kian, you got me to looking into lenses again  . I can't believe some of the bargains out there right now! The one's I Iooked at were about half of what I found them for a year ago. I think I will be investing in a few too, but only after I do the upgrade on my phone.

Gaby, was it Gaby that asked this? I have a Canon and will stick with Canon lenses. I do appreciate the info though, that's a good thing to know. You need to share some of the things you are learning in your macro class 8)

The photos of Ziggy are fantastic! I really like both of them.

Saz I really like the b&w photo of you with your camera  You have the bluest eyes with lots of detail within them. Very pretty!

The only photos I've taken lately are with my phone so nothing to post. I could upload some of the SB photos but I think most of you already saw them on fb, so I'll wait until I have something else to share. I'm enjoying everyone else's!

Woah there's so much stuff to reply to! XD

remsleep - I love the tongue shot too! with the fangs too! SCARY!

Linda - Canon lenses will be better than Tamron yeah XD But the Macro guy recommended them which I didn't expect him to...

My dad printed off his entire presentation for me afterwards so I guess if anyone has any questions, they could ask me in case the answers are in there??

I tried out turning my lens around today, like you would with a reversing ring, but I don't have one so I held my lens in place. It's my 70-300 I used, so doesn't make shots THAT close, but turning it around made a huge difference to how close I could get in focus! Here's a shot I took by turning my lens around:

We don't quite have snow yet, due some today or Monday but the ground in the forest was frosty and the ground was all wet.

Wow, I haven't looked at this thread in ages...I did scroll through, but couldn't possibly comment on all the photos added since I last looked. They're all great...Love the pic of Kiba, Phyrie, he has such a happy face! And Kian, the picture of Clarissa is adorable!

Here are a couple I took today, on my walk to the mailbox.

Cattails exploding in the sun.

This is the ditch across the road from my house, I wasn't sure when I took the photo, but I really like how it turned out.

Nezza, if you don't mind my asking, where abouts/generally do you live? I loved your second picture of the manmade lake! It was stunning!

RJM, is it early for cattails? I love how the "cotton" catches the sunlight!

I'm embarrassed to ask, but how did you turn your lens around?

I have a 28-300 Tamron lense on my Nikon, it is kind of heavy. I'm used to it, and really only notice it when I switch out lenses or pick up someone else's camera. I have a shoulder type strap, which I find is a life safer for the weight.

I wondered the same thing Kris!

Gaby I do really like how you picked up the ice crystals on the leaf. What is the size of that leaf? The crystals look huge, so I'm assuming the actual leaf is a small one?

RJM, great cattail photo! I like the way your ditch looks too, that's one of the prettiest ditches I've ever seen! A lot of the ones around here are so shallow not much water flows, but they seem to trap a lot of trash.

Oh sorry! Well, a reversing ring allows you to literally turn your lens around and fix it onto the camera

http://www.ekmpowershop2.com/ekmps/shop ... UP%201.jpg

So that the 'front lens element' is where the 'lens mount' is (going by this picture. I just call them 'front of the lens' and 'back of the lens' )

http://www.jiscdigitalmedia.ac.uk/image ... labels.jpg

Basically so that the lens itself (the lens within the lens) is further away from the sensor....so you can get closer to an object and have it in focus XD

But I don't have one, so I literally held my lens in front of my camera. They're not very expensive though, about 15 squids (£15....I'm overly cheery this morning) for me to get one :D and you can use them with extension tubes for extraaaaa Macro-ness! The guy who gave us the lecture was getting especially excited by this prospect :P

Oops, nearly forgot to say - Linda, the leaf was approximately 10cm in length. That's going from memory though XD

RJM I really love the pictures, especially the cattails one! They look so pretty there. That's backlighting I think? Always wanted some shots like that but with my dogs XD

I live in Tennesse, a very rural town in TN called Pelham...between Chattanooga and Nashville. The lake pic was taken at Tims Ford Lake which is about 30 mins from my town. :) Glad you enjoyed my pics!

Have been enjoying this thread and seeing everyone's pictures! They are all so unique and really tells us all a little bit about each other's personalities

I agree Vanessa!!

Gaby, I'll have to look into a reverse ring. I had never heard of that before. I like the idea of "extra macro-ness"

Gaby ~ I love that shot of the leaf! It's so beautiful. (:

RJM ~ I love those two shots! Especially the second one. Although, I love the lighting effect in the first one.

We had some snow here, that's now turned to slush. But I got some shots while it was here. (:
Here's one when the snow was falling last night:

Then these two were taken today. We had a guest in our garden (Mum wasn't too impressed, haha) :

And I love it when you can see the grass just peeping out of the snow:
