Hello everyone, this is my first time in the Aussie forums as well.

Congrats, BayleighBear, I saw your puppy! She is so adorable and I am glad she got picked. It is an honor!! Enjoy your darling

I have always loved aussies, I wish we could own one because they are smart, loyal, athletic, and so beautiful! But I don't think we can own one due to allergies in the house

Ive been itching for another puppy as well...well, another dog anyways. Bayleigh made it so easy having a puppy...part of me is telling me im goign to regret saying that but its soooo true she was no trouble at all! We have said that our next dog will come when we have a home (right now we live in a condo) and it will be a rescue dog...but sometimes i look at bayleigh and how she LOVES playing with all the other dogs .... i wish I could just give her a little brother or sister to play with. lol i think im crazy...

That first picture is so adorable! I love it!

2 dogs.

I personally think it's easier. yes there is double the food costs, vet bills etc. BUT i will always have 2 dogs. It's a bit harder to take them place say vacations and such becuase a lot of places have 1 dog limit, but if you look you can find places that accept 2 dogs.

Marco and madison are amazing together, i've always had a "pair" of dogs, they keep each other busy when I can't be keeping them busy ( ie, house work, work, shopping) I wish I would have 2 aussies, as I love the breed so much, i lvoe madison, but a golden really isn't for me, but it's OH's dog so :)

Marco and madison get along great, like I said they will run out side int he back yard with each other for hours if i'd let them, madison taught marco how to go potty outside, and how to let us know he's gotta go, and with training, he always copied what madison did becuase he saw that she got a treat!

They cuddle with each other in the house when they are sleeping, they will fight for attention every once in aw hile and there is the ocasional dominace thing where they will "bitch" at each other and get grumpy, but within a few mins they are back licking each others faces and playing.

The only thing I dont like is both of them have to be on different food. they both have super sensitive stomachs, and marco can only eat Nutro Natrual lamb and rice, and madison can only eat Iams . we've tried every brand under the sun. so when ig comes to that I have to buy two seperate bags of dog food. I have double the vet bills, for shots and check ups and stuff but I knew that coming in to it. training, well we had madison all ready trained before we brought marco home, and marco will start his training after the new year.
I don't know Ig uess all I can say is I love having 2 dogs and wouldn't have it any other way! feelf ree to ask away with any questions you have!

ok well first off ...

How did you find introducing a male to a female, where there any problems on that side of things?
How old was Maddison when Marco came home?
Would you say introducing them younger is better?
Also would you say the pros outweigh the cons?

Haha i feel like an interrogator :?

Im sure I've got more stored away but i just can't think at the moment ... they'll come to me!

LOL your not an interrogater!

Bringing home a male and female I didnt have any problems at all. they got along as soon as marco was brought home. Madison was a bit rough with him and scared me but Marco quckly showd me that he could hold his own against his sister!

Madison was was a year and a half old , almost 2 years when we brought Marco home. i think with her still being a puppy it was better then waiting if she was much older to get another one, now they have the same energy level and if we waited and madison was older i think it would be harder say introducing a puppy to a 5 year old, but then agani people on this board do it all the time!

i say if you can afford a 2nd dog, then yes the pros out weigh the cons! I woudlnt' have it anyother way!

any more questions?

Just popping in with some news, catching up. Haha.

<3 Having two dogs is amazing. I'd prefer to have more than one, like you guys said, they train each other, they keep each other company, active, and hopefully out of trouble. I'd say that introducing when the dogs are younger is better, the energy level will probably be closer, and the younger they can learn together might be easier. Actually I myself was thinking about purchasing another Aussie or Border. But I'll probably be looking for awhile, so keep an eye out for me guys!

Other than that Mille & Leo are great! I know this is rather off subject, but when Millie and Leo play, his hair has grown quite a bit, a lot around his back legs and butt, I call it his butt fuzz, and she likes to pull on it, it's quite hilarious like she's playing tug-o-war, doesn't seem to bother him, but do you think I should trim his hair maybe? Lol.

Thanks MM and Nymmers!
well the puppy i was looking at has been sold, (i had a feeling it would be)
But I think I am seriouly going to consider a another puppy early next year.
I guess now i'll have heaps more time to prepare :D :D
My breeders having another litter at the end of the year/begining of next year and (this may get confusing) the mother of the litter is the daughter of Meekos mother :) So she may litterly have another brother or sister haha .
At least i think thats how it works :? .

Oh yess i do have another question..
What are your thoughts on this ..
I have a 10 year old cat, Meeko and Salem dont get on the best (not horribly but Meeko tends to give him a bit of a hard time every now and then, you no the usually cat and dog chase  )
Could this pose a problem with introducing another dog and create more of a 'pack' drive and gang up on him?
if you get what i mean?

My dogs were bad for the first week or two when first being brought how, wanted to chase the cats, and got the others to gang up on them, but after then everything calmed down and now they could really care less about them. Good to hear about waiting until early next year, I think I'll be waiting until then too, although now would probably be the best time financially wise to get one, a lot, not all breeders have a lot of sales around Thanksgiving-Christmas. I know of a breeder I'm willing to recommend, we've purchased two dogs from her and have not had a single problem with either, both health and personality wise.

I have had up to 3 dogs at a time and loved it! They got along great, I gave the cats their safe place where the dogs couldn't go to. It worked out. Meekos pics are cute!

This spring we are considering adding a blue Merle, a standard size Female Aussie. I don't anticipate any problems, they adjust.
