Phyrie, Kiba looks so sweet in that picture! Today I seriously, seriously started thinking about acquiring that tri-colour little girl I want. I know you want one too. I have not seriously started looking for one in earnest, but I have a few good connections already. Oliver's breeder is a strong possibility and given Oliver's condition, I know her lines are all tested now. I also know a veterinarian whom I met after I had Oliver who lives near me and his wife breeds Cavaliers. Being a vet, he is well aware of all of the health issues. I am keeping my ear to the ground as they say. I would then be a "parent" to 2 Cavs

How exciting. A little sister for Oliver. What would you call her?

Oh, Deborah, I'm so jealous! I can hardly wait, and she's not even going to be mine! That would be sooo cool!

I have several names I'm thinking about, all of which I say with Oliver to see if they go together. The trouble is, once I decide on a name, I will have to find my little girl.

I thought of "Lily Belle"...Oliver & Lily...my Mum's middle name is Lilian and Lily Belle is the name of a person in a Neil Young song. I also like "Emily" and "Tallulah". I am also thinking about "Pearl" as it is unique. I just realized that every name I like so far has an "L" in it. I am open to ideas. I also like "Olivia", but that is too close to Oliver and might confuse him/them. I want something soft, feminine and unique and perhaps a little old fashioned.

I am purposefully avoiding making any phone calls just yet, but I can't stop thinking about it. The OH isn't sure if now is a good time, but he said the same thing about Oliver so he knows he really has no say in the matter. I think his biggest concern is that it would upset Oliver's apple cart. I think Oliver would love to have a playmate.

Phyrie, I can hook you up! I have no self control sometimes...I promised myself I wouldn't even talk about names and I can't help myself.

Oh oh oh....LILY!!! I called my youngest grand that when she was born. She was the littlest... little... lil' .... lily... It didn't stick, unfortunatly, and she ended up with "Baby" (which I still call her at 7), but I wish it had stuck.

Deborah, I may have to take you up on your offer one day. Does your breeder have a website so I can drool and dream?

Phyrie, she does not own a computer! She is an older English woman from the same part of England as my mother and she still writes everything down in longhand. Wouldn't it be fun if I found two female tri's, one for you, one for me?! I'm glad you like the name Lily...I also like Lola (it's a cheeky version of Lily to me).

I haven't made any phone calls yet. That's the invisible line for me

Lola is very good too. It would sound lovely calling them in from outside, "Lola! Oliver!". I am pretty much married to Kia, so feel free to use Lily if it suits.

I would so much love to have another one.... *sigh*

Oh, you guys! This is even worse than the food hijacking! I've been watching my Chey get older - she's 9 now, and the life span for large breeds like her (RottXGSD) is not as long as my husky, (16) for instance. I'm talking myself out of it - she's been my only "baby" for years now, and I think I'd like it to stay that way for the rest of her life. I tell myself it's only fair for her, if she doesn't have to share me as long as she has left. (She is perfectly healthy, so she may be with me a lot longer, fingers crossed!) It sure is hard to keep driving every time I pass the Humane Society, tho'.

Deborah, I just wanted to mention the new Avatar of Oliver is beautiful. It just seems to shout "look at me, here I come" . What a sweetie!

Hugs,

My mum's middle name is Lilian too.

Cavi's are so sociable I should think Oliver would enjoy her company and it would keep him young.

What about Ophelia? Has the "O" and the "L" sounds and is soft and feminine and has history and culture too.

I do quite like unusual names. It's a good job SS was born a boy because my favourite girls names at the time were Persephone and Morrigan. OH wasn't especially keen on either.

Morrigan is good, although I think laying Persephone on a child might be a little heavy for her to carry. Mind you, she'd end up Penny or something, I suppose. I like the classic names, but I have a hard time with "hippy" names sometimes. You know the ones I mean. Around here we have Ocean, Parsley, Sky, Jade (I like that one), Amchitka (why, why, why?), and on and on.... We have one whole family, from eldest to youngest: Rocky, Pebbles, Sandy, Dusty and Smoky. Pebbles and Sandy are the girls. I used to tease Sandy (she is my age) that if her parents had had another child, they would have to call him "Air" or something equally light.

Parsley? PARSLEY? What are they thinking? What next Chervil? Feverfew? Lungwort?

At SS's school there are two brothers called Rocc and Redd. I can't decide if I like those or not.

Ophelia was another one on my list that I couldn't think of last night and I'm so glad you like Lily as well, both Tracy and Phyrie. Isn't that funny that your Mum and my Mum have the same middle name Tracy. I also like the other names you mentioned. I did not intend to pick names with an "L", I just noticed I seem to lean towards those for a Cavy girl.

Parsley?!? I am not a huge fan of the "new age" names, like some of Sarah Palin's children...Track and Trig. Her daughter should have named her son Trapp or Trick instead of Tripp.

Sandy, I feel very similar to you in that I don't wish to "upset" Oliver but after thinking about it a lot, I think he would enjoy a playmate. It also occurred to me today, as I've been talking myself into this, that I could now board Oliver when I go away as he would have a little sister to share his confinement. I could always board Emma, but Sally had to be in the same kennel as Emma so they only went where the kennel was big enough for two of them.

Earlier today I kept mentioning a new little girl in front of the OH under the guise of discussing it with Oliver. I did not hear any objections! 8) Ben and Elliot really, really want another puppy and they were both so good with Oliver, and diligent about helping, especially with the housebreaking.

The first Cavalier I ever cuddled was a female tri and she stole my heart. If anyone can think of any reason why I should not pursue this, speak now

YOU SHOULD NOT PURSUE THIS BECAUSE................nope sorry can't think of a single reason. I can think of many reasons why you should pursue getting a cavi girl though.
