Todler that is the one thing I have to work on is her distraction with other dogs around, she just goes nuts. How do you cope with that?

I have a mini, he is only 16 weeks right now but is suppose to mature at 20 lbs and about 14 inches. He is super sweet but doesn't have the wary or strangers part, yet any way. I was reading that at the age of 4 months puppies are about 60 % of their maturity height, any takes on that? I am so excited to see just how big my little man actually gets! :P

Blink those pictures are so beautiful!! As far as Allie being ill, the vet believes she may have picked up a virus that caused her high temps and the other problems with it. The meds helped and she is hyper on again. He just has no idea what the virus was and what caused the pain with it. We know 100% it was not parvo. Just one of those mystery things I guess.

Hello Monica! Allie is a mini, however, she weighs 26 pounds and I would say about 18" high.
Must have a picture!!

Hello again Jasper. Use a free site like Photobucket or flicker to post and use the img code to paste on the thread. It's easy and would love a picture. Need anything else, let us know.

Measure up to her shoulder, Blinkme. Just for contrast my boy is about 31" (79cm) to the shoulder.

Welcome Jasper!!

Well, I wish I had a secret to share with you but so far, that is the one area that I have to work with her on as well. I am going to see how she handles it this week as their will be more activity and I just got an email that they split the class in two because there were too many dogs in it to effectively get through us all so that's good. That means less time waiting for our turn and less boredom for Lucy. I just try to keep her leash tight and distract her with treats and click and feed her when she obeys. The more she is around other dogs, hopefully the more she will get used to them and less distracted by them. I am amazed at the dogs I see at agility who really could care less about each other and are so focused. Not all of them but most of them are so obedient and pay attention only to their master and the task at hand. But they are also very advanced. We're new! So hopefully, we'll be there someday. It is a bit frustrating now but soon, I hope it will be more fun. Not enjoying the training right now because I have two to deal with and when I separate them, they want to be together and don't focus on me. When they're together, they are distracted and push each other out of the way to get the treat first and break their concentration. Hopefully, that will change. Good luck.

thanks Loki's mum! ill do that tonight :D
haha that is a big boy!
i just love the idea of big dogs for some reason.

id love to hear everyone else's Measuremeants and to compare and see where Meekos at!

Thanks Todlor!
i had the same problem of her wanting to play and not focous on me when we where at puppy school haha
i just sat there giving her food everytime our teacher was trying to talk

went to the park and did some practice yesterday,
she did really well! there where 4 border collies walking past and she got excited at first and started trying to run after them and barking
but when i called her (after about 4 calls mind you haha) she still came to me and i kept telling her to look at me and when she gave me eye contact i gave her a treat and she eventually ignored them!
i was proud :D
Also Meeko's is actually learning to drop with out me having to place my hand on the ground!
im on holidays at the moment so can spend heaps and heaps of time training her :D :D

also ....
this is what happens when your puppy is left outside all day with no one home ...

not fun to clean up ..

Postby Phyrie on Mon Jun 29, 2009 3:24 am

Well, I'm sorry to all I am about to insult, but that is about the prettiest thing I've ever seen in my whole life. And that INCLUDES my dog. The pretty pose, the bright eyes, the coy smile... She has just got it going on! She doesn't even look real, she's so cute. She looks like, if you asked someone, "What would the prettiest, girliest puppy in the world look like?" this is what they would come up with. Wow. You could sell copies of that pic. Seriously. That is amazing. I don't know what else to say. Tell me she has all wiry, scrubby hair or something, and isn't as soft and cuddly and lovable as she looks.... Give me somethin'!

If she was here in front of me, I'd be all burbishing her belly until she peed herself laughing! Kiba would pout, but I wouldn't care, because I would be smitten. And then Kiba would be all, "You know what? She is pretty cool. Maybe we could be friends, if you would just STOP NOMMING HER EARS OFF! Seriously, dude, that is SO embarasssing..." And then we would all be friends, and dance off into the sunset, where the sun would shine on her pretty ears, except I've already nommed them off, but that's OK....

I need to take a nap and recover from the beauty that is this puppy.

Phyrie that is so sweet! Yes I must agree whole heartely, Meeko is a beauty and so well groomed. She has a great owner who takes great care of her.

But Meeko, that mess you made in the yard, too cute. The mess Allie making in the yard lately has to do with the peas. She has discovered she loves them, so I have to be quick to harvest.

Todler will be watching to see how the agility goes, I will be unable to start agility as planned due to the fact I quit my job. I am still working on a fisbree routine much like the one in the link Phyrie posted and that is free to do! I will have more time to work with her on that and fisbree is just as much fun. I will be looking for PT job again in the fall, then we maybe start agility in the spring when she is two and little more passed the puppy stage.
