Mudi

Postby BudandMe on Fri Aug 07, 2009 3:17 pm

I would like to introduce to you all, the Mudi. The Mudi is a small breed dog ranging from 15 to 19 inches tall. The Mudi was originated in Hungary and is a pretty rare breed here in Canada and in the US. This breed is a very clever, smart, quick and agile dog who is easy to teach, but can misbehave sometimes as they are sometimes very stubborn. They enjoy activities such as agility, obedience, flyball, scent hurdle, freestyle, tracking, herding and search and resuce. This breed adapts quickly to urban or rural lifestyle, and need to be exercised daily to drain out any energy they have in them. The breed is also very affectionate and loves attention and will follow you everywhere.

I myself have never encountered this breed but hope to do so one day.

Thanks for sharing! I was very curious about this breed so I did some research. They are about the same size of a Mini Aussie and are really a nice looking breed. Haven't ever seen one here, so I will be looking as well.

 They are extremely beautiful breed, I was head over heels for the breed when I seen them in my book. It's a shame they aren't too common here.

Hi all!

I just wanted to add a little about the Mudis. I just adopted one from my sister who breeds them and Bluey is about the sweetest little guy on the planet. Like all Mudis, he is full of energy but he is also a couch potato once he's done racing around the yard, wrestling with my other dog, Jack, and winging his stuffed teddies all over the house. He, and my sister's other Mudis, are real snugglers who love to pretend they are smaller toy breeds that can park in your lap every time you sit down. One thing that surprised me when reading about the Mudis is that they are prone to barking because none of ours bark AT ALL! (Well, that's not entirely true; the puppy's daddy, Forras, makes these yipping sounds whenever you come home or tease him with a toy. To me, that's just him "laughing.") I'm now looking into agility classes for Bluey but there doesn't seem to be much here in Maine. Anyway, I'm hoping that this breed will become more popular and available in the United States because they are just a joy to have.

Hi,
Not sure what part of Maine you are from but there are several good agility instructors in southern Maine that I know of, What about trying Flyball with your Mudi?
