A Caring Place HS - last chance dogs- survivors of fire

Postby Sasafras56 on Fri Nov 23, 2007 9:38 am

I am a Foster Mom for this great Humane Society. On Monday night (11.19) there was a horrible fire at the Franklin County Pound in Southern Illinois.
40 dogs and cats perished but the outside kennel dogs survived thanks to fireman for tearing down the fence.
acaringplacehs.org is picking up 7 dogs on Saturday -Nov 24th. They will need willing and able foster familys and donations to take care of the VET needs. This humane society is located in Darian, IL -western suburb of Chicago. All help would be appreciated.

God Bless these Dogs and help them get over their trauma.

Survivors of the fire

Postby Sasafras56 on Fri Jan 25, 2008 11:43 pm

We got some beautiful dogs that survived the fire. Labradors /boxer/fox terrier mix. We heard distressing information on the Franklin County pound. They will not rebuild until June even though they have funds set aside. In the meantime dogs are still being dropped off and found running loose. They are putting these dogs in outside igloos.. We have had temp's below 0 this week and a lot of snow. How are these poor animals surviving? I hope they are finding better shelter for them.Things like this break my heart.

Update on Fire survivors

Postby Sasafras56 on Sat Mar 08, 2008 6:04 pm

[color=red] Of all the dogs we rescued we only have a couple left. And believe it or not they are purebreds!!! I could not believe it! I am fostering the beagle Gracie and she is a cutie. Then there is Jericho who is an American Staffordshire Terrier. These two were the closest to the fire in an outdoor kennel but they are not showing any trauma.
Bad news is a woman was caught having a puppy mill.
