For all the New Zealand members you will be well aware of the difficulties facing Christchurch. The Initial earthquake and frequent aftershocks have devestated Christchurch. Sadly, as people are leaving Christchurch, put into temporary accomodation or suffering from the liquifaction to their properties, peoples are being forced to put their beloved pets up for adoption. A recent piece on Campbell Live about a woman whos beloved pet was loosing his fur from the stress and subsequently was facing being put down unless she found him a new home(dogs are very sensitive to the earthquakes) had me near tears.I just wanted to put a post up to encourage anyone in NZ who is thinking about getting a dog, to think about adopting from Christchurch. The shelters are full and have been sending animals to other parts of the country. Vets are having to put down perfectly fit dogs as there is no where for them to go. Many of these are beloved family pets who are unable to go with their families to their new accomadation. As a staunch supporter of animal adoption please think about adopting from Christchurch, give these pets a loving home if you can. I have attached some links for anyone who is interested.
