That is really good news. With all the love and positive thoughts coming your way...it will continue to be bright for Oliver. I always think of him and send him good thoughts.

Well done, Deborah. And Oliver.

I can only hope that I would prove such a good caretaker, if asked.
I'm humbled by your efforts.

You're doing an excellent job, Deborah! I'm so glad to hear that he's responding so well and that he loves his full body pets again :D How does he take his medication? Is it by mouth or do you have to give him needles?

So glad that Oliver is coming along well. I can't imagine how hard it would be to have an adorable furbaby like Oliver and not be able to pet him constantly--as he so rightly deserves!

Hang in there Deb; that was very inspiring to me that you were talking to Oliver about all of our positive comments for his greater good (even tho you might have gotten questioning stares from other drivers)!

We will continue to keep you all in our prayers, and we know that Oliver is getting the best care from his Mum! Love and hugs, Cheryl

Thanks Rhonda and Phyrie...you are too kind. Jake's Mom, I give Oliver his medication in a small piece of cheese. He now looks forward to me picking up a pill bottle as he knows there is cheese coming :) There was only one time, quite a while ago, when he wouldn't eat at all. I then had to manually give him his pill.

Cheryl, I'm so sorry I haven't sent you a PM in a while. It's been so busy around here, and Rhonda, I will get your chocolate off to you soon, I promise.

I do so appreciate all of your kind words of support. For some reason my resolve isn't as strong today. Oliver is doing very well and perhaps I'm just a little weary. Fatigue makes cowards of us all (my father used to tell me). When I say how much I appreciate the support, I mean it wholly and completely.

I am so grateful for the DP and the friends I have found here.

You have a right to be a little tired. Oliver's doing really well so you need to give yourself just a little break so you will be strong when he's not. Standard working procedural survival skills  I'm glad that he takes his meds in pills, needles would be nasty for both of you. Keep up the good work, you are doing great and I'm so glad that Oliver is too. Remember, in order for you to take care of him you have to take care of yourself :D

Oliver is having a truly amazing week. The new drug, Lyrica, seems to be agreeing with him and he is not suffering extreme lethargy which was his doctor's main concern. He is nearly finished his course of prednisone which has also helped. We'll see what happens when he's off of that.

I've noticed that he has resumed some of his behaviours that have been missing since he became ill. Most mornings this week, I am greeted with his sweet face peering out of the front window looking for me to return after dropping the boys at school. His one white eye is SO CUTE from the street. By the time I reach the front door, his body is in full "wag" waiting for me to open the door. No matter what mood I'm in, when I see that sweet face, I can't help but smile :D He has also been enjoying more play time in the evenings. He's even being a bit naughty and doing the odd thing he knows he shouldn't, which fills my heart with joy as his cheekiness is back :)

The unconditional support I receive from everyone is the best present ever. Jake's Mom, I think you are right. Once Oliver seemed to be "ok", all the fatigue and worry I'd been holding at bay just came flooding over me. I'm feeling strong and positive again and looking forward to Oliver's birthday on the 22nd :)

THANK YOU!!!

Deborah xoxo

Its good to hear that he's doing things he knows he shouldn't, means he's feeling much better. Isn't it funny how our priorities change :D He has such a sweet, angelic face. That would make me smile seeing him looking out the window at me :D
