Please Help....

Postby ashly89 on Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:21 pm

I'm really in stuck on what to do... I have a one year female German Shepherd, named Jayden. I absolutely LOVE her to death.. She was given to me as a birthday gift last year from my boyfriend, well now ex boyfriend. Im currently in SC, and I have to move back home to NJ in a couple of months. We also have another dog, which is my boyfriends dog, a husky named Shadow. Now, Jayden and Shadow are close, they are always playing together and things like that. At the same time, Jayden is really close to me. She will listen to me more than she will my boyfriend, but she still listens very well. She sleeps at my feet every single night and is always giving me kisses. My problem is that Im worried about taking her away from Shadow. I want to do what is best for her, not for me. I need some advice as to if it would be wise to take her with me, or to leave her with my boyfriend so she can be Shadow. This is tearing me up inside. I just don't know what to do. I want to take her with me but at the same time I dont want her to be depressed and alone without Shadow. So I guess what im asking is would be she be better off with Shadow and my boyfriend taking care of her or would she be better off without them and just be with me?... If you have had any personal experience that would be great.. Thank you

Gee,I don't know.I had one GFF who left and took HER dogs with her.The next GFF arrived and brought her dogs. Meanwhile my own pack survived just fine..Dogs live one day at a time.

Tough situation...but I would take her with you when you move back to NJ. I'm sure she will make tons of new friends back in your home town!

Best of luck to you and Jayden!

Dogs get separated everyday from each other, divorce, death, relocation.... they do fine. They mostly want to be with thier human if given a choice. I say go, make new friends, take her someplace where there are other dogs to play with and maybe join a dog club. Good luck to you.

I'm going out on a limb and saying take her with you,she is likely to be more attached to you,her human, than to her playmate. If she gets terribly lonely or depressed perhaps you can get a second dog once you're settled into your new home.Good luck!

Thank you all! I have thought about this all night long and I have decided to take her with me.. The only problem is that I'm not sure if my mom will allow me to. When I move back to NJ I have to move back home with my mom, step-dad and 2 brothers. My mom also has 2 dogs of her own. A 13 year old black lab and an 8 year old golden retriever. They both are very friendly with other dogs (both male and females). Jayden is spade so that wont be an issue at all. I will have to explain to my mom that I cannot leave her behind. It will take A LOT of convincing to do to my mom but I'm praying that she will let me bring her with me. Thank you all again.

Ashly.take the dog with you,if your mother is any kind of aa dog person at all she will understand...Jayden sounds like she will fit right in with the other two'...Make sure vou do all of your own dog care ( dont expect mom to do it ) and I can see no problem...Good luck and keep us posted :D
