Postby britchrismax on Wed Aug 25, 2010 5:12 pm

Hi my name is Brittney and my puppies name is Max. He's 17 weeks this past Monday and growing like a serious weed. He's my first puppy/dog ever so you can only imagine my excitement. He's super social and loves everyone I really wanna bring him to the dog park but he hasn't had all his shots will he be ok since he has had 2 of them or can he still get parvo and stuff?

thanks
Britt and Max

Hi Britt and welcome. I wouldn't take him to anywhere as densely dog populated as a dog park. You could maybe socialise him with a friend's or family member's dog that you know has had all it's vaccinations but nowhere where unknown dogs have been.

Welcome to the Daily Puppy Britt! Deerie Me has given you excellent advice.

It is better to be safe than sorry, and you will have a lifetime of wonderful dog park experiences ahead of you. Please wait until he has finished all of his shots. That advice is given to people, particularly new puppy owners, for a reason. Imagine how you would feel if your dog contracted something that could have been avoided if you had only waited a few more weeks.

After waiting a lifetime for your special friend, a few more weeks of not going to the dog park won't hurt a bit. Enjoy your lovely puppy!

Hi Brittney,..and Max,
take the good advise of Deborah and Tracy,..i would agree,..don't risk taking Max out to the park as yet,..if he contacted anything,..you would not forgive yourself,..plus worrying with Max ill when you should have waited,...best of luck to you with your pet.

Max is such a cutie! I really like the photo of the close up of his face as he is sleeping. Such a sweet puppy face!

Welcome to the wonderful world of owning a dog. Enjoy! And welcome to the Daily Puppy from Margie & Jose in Vermont. :)
