Alina - I especially live the first piece of the Chihuly glass. It looks like a giant top on a pineapple. Its amazing what he can do with glass. I need to see if I have pictures of the Chihuly display from a couple of years ago on my computer.

RrA -(shorter than typing it all out  )
How cute are those little ponies! Are they miniatures or just still babies? And your butterfly pic is a good one! I haven't seen one like that around here.

I'm enjoying everyone's photos!

What a great Idea Linda! I just love this thread and everyones pictures are unique and fun. More please! I promise not to bore everyone with my pics, well maybe a few here and there. RJM this is addicting, you can't go wrong getting a new camera. All this pics here were fun to look at, amazing talent on this site.

I am learning to push the limits, here are a few taken at the county fair. These were all on manual settings and mostly just a experiment in color and angles.

I didn't realize I photobucketed so many.

You're getting good with that camera!!! The black and whites are really good! I love the first one, the B&W makes it look like its from the 50's or 60's! Love the ferris wheel with all the colors in the wheel, very good! The last 2 crack me up! They're so colorful, your camera picks up the colors very well. Nice work

Being a hick and growing up in the country, I am unfamiliar with Chihuly's work. I just love the glass sculptures. I've always loved glass work of any kind. I love the old stained glass windows in our wee Church. We often used to visit a glass place in Venice where we could watch them blow glass and make things. I'm fascinated by it.

Alina, great photos. I also love the butterflies

Linda, your photographs are lovely. I can't get over how pretty your city is, with the canals and museums and statues.

I do realize this is a thread about photography. The lovely pictures I am viewing are so well taken that I feel as though I am there.

Kian I could smell the Fair food and hear the sounds when viewing your pictures.

Chandra - are you using Photobucket? They have changed the site, I used to have to downsize my photos to load them to Photobucket faster, but now it downsizes them for you and keeps the higher resolution of the photos. You can then just copy the IMG code and paste in a thread. There are other photo storing/sharing sites, but a lot of us use Photobucket.

I'm glad everyone is enjoying this as much as I am!

I'll try it again - thanks Linda!

Kian, Your photos are amazing! I really like B&W photos, and I loved your first two pics.

I have been looking at the Canon SX120. It's the same camera Mary in Wonderland has.
I think the HO is getting it for my birthday. (Which is in November, I don't know if I've mentioned that)

Gaby I have a Nikon D60, but there are so many others out there just as good. The last two pics I enhanced the color which makes it pop.

RJM I think November is a good month for a new camera!

Chandra do try, we would love to see your pictures.

Deb perhaps your resident photographer has some pics to post?

Ah yes, Deb  . We would love to see his photos here!

Chandra - I played with putting photos in a thread this morning and you might be using the http link which is just that a link. Use the IMG link instead and it loads the photo. Hope this helps, I look forward to seeing your photos!

Thanks for the reminder Kian!
Gaby, sorry I didn't respond to your post! I am practicing with a Canon Powershot SX10. Its one of my OH's older ones, but I wanted to practice before buying one of newer SLR cameras. Well he says its mine now  , but I'll be giving it back to him when I get a new one. I'm looking at getting a Canon EOS Rebel T1i EF-S, it has more features than the one I'm using now, plus its an SLR. My problem is the weight of the camera, I can't handle a heavy one, I'm a small person who needs a small camera  . I also use my little point and shoot which is a Canon Powershot SD880 IS. Its a great little pocket camera and I'll keep it and still use it too.

RJM - tell your HO we all think that would be an awesome birthday gift. One that keeps on giving   8)

Alina - I can't find my Chihuli photos! I'll keep looking......

A few photos from yesterday. I tried not to include too many. It was such a beautiful day though, and its hard to pick which ones to post!

These are steps up to some condos right on the canal. It would be nice to live here, but very pricey I'm sure! These steps with the water and plants look amazing in person. I hope my photos do them justice.

Image

At the top of the steps looking down....

Image

This was at one end of a bridge, they put a curved area at each end and had fountains at each end also. I was able to shoot the fountain, a duck, a paddleboat, both ends and someone standing on the other side of the canal in one photo!

Image

Photo of the bridge from above picture

Image

One of the many fountains and the other side of the bridge.

Image

Another fountain.....this one has 2 shooting fountains on each side too, but to get it all picks up too much of the surrounding area and doesn't do it justice in the photo. (or maybe its just the photographer)

Image

And another fountain!

Image

Self portrait - ha ha! I was actually trying to get a shot of the koi fish and realized I was in the photo too

Image

Fountain in the main part close to the museums. I liked this photo also because you can see the new hotel just built in the background. It's huge, blue reflective glass and beautiful! And look at that blue sky.

Image

I saw these flowers and buds and was fascinated by them. I've never seen them before, but they look like a trumpet somewhat.

Image

The last is one of my favorites. The purple flowers through the pampas grass.

I love the self portrait. We have a river that runs through downtown. It is lovely to go have dinner or drinks. Yours has more fountains than ours. Cyndy
