Linda, I love all of the water features in your downtown. They truly are beautiful. I had no idea what a gem of a city you have there (until you started posting pictures). You should work for the Tourism Board! On a hot day, I would be so tempted to jump into one of those fountains!

I loved the cascading waterfall outside of the condos, as well as the "wall of water". I was amused by your comment about capturing both ends of the bridge, duck, paddle boat, and a person on the other side.

That hotel looks beautiful as did the sky above it. What is the name of the hotel? I'd love to look it up on-line.

Great pictures Linda, and please, if you have more, keep posting.

That is a terrific idea, you should work for the Indy travel board. Your pics are beautiful and for a city that OH says was the longest 3 days of his life, he has seen it in a different way. Of course, he was in meetings during the day and at night they went to the girly bar so he just stayed in his room.

Deb how about pictures of your city? Can the resident photographer help out?

The same for Cyndy and everyone else. It would be fun to see the towns and some of the fun tourist attractions.

Deb, the hotel is the J W Marriott. The hotel part doesn't open until Feb 2011, but one small part (maybe the restaurant??) is open now. I found it online, here's a link. http://www.jwindy.com/Construction-57.html

I do have more photos, but I need to find new subject matter besides the canal  . I do see something new every time I go there though! And its miles and miles long so lots of different sights. Its fun trying to get good photos and having them turn out the way you want them to. We are planning on going to the butterfly gardens in 2 weeks so I'll get lots of butterfly pictures for you Deb. I'm like you, I've always loved butterflies. I already know when we move and I start new flower gardens, one of them will be a butterfly garden. The plants are beautiful, but the butterflies they draw are even more beautiful!

LOL! Tourism / Travel board....wouldn't that be a fun job!! I could do that 8)

It would be great to see what everyones towns or cities look like. Great idea!! Great photo opportunity.
Hmmm, wonder what I could take pictures of in our little town. Indianapolis is so much more exciting....lol!!!

Thanks for the link Linda! I enjoy looking at hotels and things.

I can't wait to see your butterfly pictures. Planting a garden to attract butterflies is a lovely idea.

Linda, your photos are gorgeous!! And everyone's photos are just wonderful.

Kian, your pictures from the state fair were amazing, especially the black and white ones. I went to our County Fair today, and if I had taken a camera, I would have taken one similar to your stuffed bananas as they were at our fair too. I laughed when I saw them hanging - made me think of you!

You are all inspiring me to start taking photos again. I used to years ago, but the camera I loved died (it got dropped and the cost to repair it was twice the price of a new camera) and I never found a replacement that I liked. I don't own a digital camera of my own, as I just borrow my brother's on occasions. I still think I need to go shopping...

I loved the fair pictures, although it has been many years since I went to our county fair. Kian's pictures brought back memories.
This thread is wonderful to be able to see what others are seeing. I, too, need to get another camera as I have a tiny Cybershot and while it is handy to carry in my pocket, the pictures aren't the best. The one I want runs about $1000.00 and that is quite a bit to invest in a camera but I am still thinking about it.

Keep the pictures coming.

You're welcome Deb! I didn't think the link showed the new hotel in its best light, but I think they were more into the construction than anything. I did see a couple of pictures of an area within the link that I have to go looking for. Two areas I haven't been to yet. I can tell from the pics they are across from the inside of the curve so I know where to start looking. Exploring, exploring...

Thank you Margie! I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures, and yes you should go shopping

Sher - the cameras are a bit pricey aren't they! Wow, but what great pictures they take. It will take me a little while to save and buy a new one, but it WILL happen 8) . A few other things to take care of first.

No new pictures right now, so if anyone has anything...bring it on :D

VeI have some from a trip we took last year around the top of NZs South Island...havent got anything more recent as my camera has been slowly but surely giving up! It was April, the beginning of winter, we were in t-shirts for the first half, then the first snow fell during our trip.

Linda, We just opened up a JW Marriott here is San Antonio. My company sponsors a the Texas Open golf tournament. I went out there before the tournament to watch a Spurs game in their sports bar. It is just so awesome. I went by myself and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is spectacular. I'd like to go and stay there some time. We get a discount on their rooms. Sounds like a fun getaway :P

Cyndy - Thats great that you get a discount! Would that be at any Marriott?

Krissi, what great photos! Your area is beautiful - wow! I wondered if those were horses too, that would be awesome to see. The next to the last picture looks like it belongs in a magazine, very beautiful. And love the seal picture!

Krissi, Gorgeous photos! Since I'll probably never get to NZ, I'll live it through your pics. :)
I really like the one of Nelson Lake, what a great sight that had to have been waking up in the morning right there!
And the grumpy seal is so cute.
