I started reviewing this thread yesterday and just got to finish it! I have really enjoyed seeing everyones pictures.
Linda, when I saw your comment about needing to find a new subject, I remembered a facebook poll I saw recently on that very subject. I think we all have our favorite spot. Mine is a dam site about a mile from home and dogs of course!
I think I've said it before but I didn't realize how much Indy had to see, they have done a beautiful job with downtown.
Get idea for a thread.

Thanks Kris! You could post pictures from your favorite place too - hint hint  . I KNOW you take fantastic pictures. Oh and a big thanks for the invite to the photography site on fb. I've been looking around in there already!

Krissi - I showed the pictures to my OH and he said to tell you they are fantastic! Beautiful area!!

Deb I went looking for the area in the hotel link - ha! I think they inserted something that isn't really there. I need to go back and dig into the link again. BUT I did find something new while I was over that way. They expanded our convention center, its HUGE now. They are still working on one end, but the end I was at today was finished. They've put up a few statues that I thought were so cute. Luckily I took my little camera with me today!

This was off to the side in the grassy area. I'm not sure why a lion, but pretty cool anyway.

Image

These I loved! I think they are welcoming all of the visitors to the convention center. I can't wait to see what they put at the other entrances.

The whole group.....

These were so cute!!!

This is for all of the lady photographers on the DP :D
(My OH said we should name this one Kian  )

Image

And a close up of the mom and dad...at least thats what I think they are :D

Kian, you should use that picture as your avatar on FB!!
Linda, I love that lion! and the smiley people are really cute too. We have something similiar at our convention center, but they are mimes. I have some pic's I have to upload and share.

I'm inspired now to get back out there and take some pictures. I have been meaning to, but between the heat and not feeling good, I got into a slump. Also want to hit the zoo, they have a butterfly/bird garden that I love! Stay tuned...

This picture was taken last summer with my old camera on low settings, so it didn't turn out great. But I thought it may be of interest to some. It was impressive in person. This is the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company headquarters building. They sponsored the Wild Kingdom tv show with Marlin Perkins...Last year was thier 100th anniversary, and they "decorated" the building with this tiger. The tiger was a banner and the green grass was done with lighting. The grass appeared to be moving and gave the illusion the tiger was running through the grass.

After playing frisbee and ball with Sadie this evening I went back out to pick up the toys and noticed the butterflies were out in numbers! So of course I had to get the camera  . Sorry to bore you with the same old type of butterfly, but for some reason thats what these flowers are attracting. I wanted a shot of several on one flower but that only happened when I didn't have the camera out there with me. I played with the settings on the camera and think I fine tuned the pictures a little better. You can see the actual hairs on the butterflies body.

Three pictures, but they all look slightly different depending on the angle and the flower the butterfly was on.

I also saw a Praying Mantis - I just had to take a picture!! Aren't these supposed to be good luck or something?

This one isn't as sharp, but LOOK!! He stopped and turned his head to look at me!!!

One last shot, I forgot this one last night. I noticed this as I was walking back to the office after taking the statue pictures yesterday. I have to take my good camera back and see if I can get a better photo!

This is looking through a walkway that is one block long - you can see the capital building. I don't know if my pictures do it justice, but it was pretty nice in person!

Kris - Can't wait to see some more of your photos! And everyone else's too
This is fun. It doesn't take much to entertain me I guess :D

Wow Linda, That's a fat Praying Mantis. Was it eating a bee?

Here's a picture of a Praying Mantis in my lavender, eating a butterfly.

I just love Praying Mantis!!! They are such fascinating insects and are pros at mimicry! Great shots!

That Mutual of Omaha building is cool. I remember watching Wild Kingdom every week as a kid!

Everyone has such great towns...

RJM, that is such a good photo, it could almost be like a "Where's Waldo" in that the colours all seem to blend seamlessly, and at a glance, it's hard to see what is really occurring. I love Lavender...It is one of my favourite scents.

Beautiful picture RJM!
