Loki's gender is never mistaken but Idun often gets called a boy. I think maybe it's the beard that does it.

Alina, that is such a funny thing to say!

For some reason, I think people assume that larger dogs are male, and smaller dogs are female, along with many other preconceived notions.

Alina you are funny! And Tracy I laughed at your comment about Idun and the beard

Deb I think you're right about the big and small dogs. I think thats why so many people assume Sadie is a boy when they first look at her, they don't see the pink, they see the larger size dog!

I did enjoy reading everyone's posts on how people perceive their dogs - male or female just at a glance. I don't feel so bad for poor little Miss Sadie now

Oh, and I have to agree Kessler definitely looks masculine, no matter what angle you look at him. And he is just SO darn cute!! RJM - I haven't forgotten to try to get a photo of my neighbors dog that looks like Morty. Hopefully I'll catch them out and about again soon!

Sadie needs to do something this weekend, she hasn't had pictures taken since the 7th!!

Well it didn't take her long to do something! Uggghhh!! Somewhere in the grass today when we were walking she found a dead mouse - uggghhh!! She carried it about halfway home, and NO I was NOT going to try to take it out of her mouth. She dropped it finally to sniff it and I pulled her away. Uggghhh!! We won't be walking that way for a while, hopefully another animal will have carried it off before we go that way next time. Did I say uggghhh!!!

LOL Deb! I know you do  Uggghhh!!!

I started Sadie back on the benadryl, she started scratching again last night. She's pretty much laid around today and I'm wondering if it could be the benadryl? The vet said to just give it to her as needed now, and did ask if we saw any difference in her, was she calmer...lol!! We laughed and said there wasn't a big difference that we noticed, but I am wondering now since she is pretty much a couch potato today if it is making her drowsy. But at least she's not scratching!

I feel bad for Sadie! We need a freeze! Charlie is Mr. Scratch right now too.

Everyone thinks Izzy is a girl! He is "pretty" and it doesn't help everyone thinks "Izzy" is a girls name either...
He acts all boy though! Nothing girly or prissy about him.

Tell her Tracy, she's not listening to me

Kris - Sorry Izzy is scratching again too. Mr. Pretty, but not girly or prissy himself :D   . I love your description.

I thought Sadie was getting a little better on the scratching again, but tonight I see a little red rash on her tummy again. I'm going to keep up the benadryl, it does seem to help with the scratching. I sprayed her skin again last night before bed too and she slept all night without scratching or biting at her skin. Poor girl! At least its not as bad this time around as it was before. You're right Kris, we need a freeze!

I'm going to take my little video camera with me on Sadie's walk later this evening. The past 2 nights when we have walked by one corner house 2 dogs bark (there's a wood privacy fence so we can't see them). Then as we are starting to walk away they start howling. REALLY howling   . It funny to hear, but I'm sure the neighbors around there don't appreciate the loud racket! I'll try to get it on video so you all can hear them. The video part may not be that great, but hopefully I can pick up the sound.

Edit: No howling dogs tonight, maybe next time 8)

Linda, while I would have enjoyed hearing the dogs howl, I'm quite sure the neighbours were pleased that it wasn't happening. Keep that video camera handy when walking!

Is that Tracy I hear??? I'm all ears......

Image

(Older picture, because she's sleeping right now and doesn't look like she's listening  )

Tracy - I forgot to tell you! Last time Sadie was at the vets office a sub was in because the regular vet was on vacation. He said "She looks like she has some Greyhound in her!"

Deb, I'm sure the neighbors are relieved those dogs are inside! They were again tonight too. They howl LOUDLY!!!

Linda, that is one of the sweetest photos of Sadie I've ever seen, especially with your caption. She has a lovely expression, and her ears are delightful.

The toy is cute too!

Awww thanks Deb! I have tons of pictures of Sadie that I've never posted. Most I take for my own enjoyment and to keep a photo record of her. I got misty eyed looking through the photo album when I was looking for this picture to post. Looking back and the puppy and 4 month old pictures! One picture I laughed at because she hadn't grown into those ears yet
Unfortunately that toy is long gone. Chewed up and torn apart! She had it for a long time, but one day discovered there was stuffing in there!!

That is one adorable photo. So the vet agrees with me, yay! I think she's probably half and half. I don't think she has much in her mix, she looks too much like both breeds. She's a lurcher!!!!
