Hi Emmy,..delighted to see you started a thread for Nena,...i reckon we should see plenty of pictures as Nena grows up,.."rapidly i notice",...there are a few,..but very few ex service personnel in the forum,..two Naval Service,..three Military,..including yourself and myself.
I was posted with the Canadian Black Watch,(Cyprus),..Swedish Forces(Congo,Africa.),..then back to Cyprus/Jerusalem/Lebanon areas with the Canadians,Brits,Fins,Austrians,Australian Police,and the Danes,..all part of UN,..i served in the Armoured Corps,Irish Forces.

Today I'll be posting some pictures of her first trip to the beach where she had her first play date with two of my friends' puppies

Nena's first visit to the beach in the city of Catania, located on the island of Sicily in Italy. Confusing, hu? lol. I took her out there on 24th of September, 2010. She had a blast!

Emmy - That was too funny! Even Nena is ragging ya about the socks!
I was checking out the size of her paws. She's gonna be a big one, isn't she?

Her paws are pretty big when compared to her legs. Her nails are pretty sharp also. I trim them down and just two days later they are razor sharp again. She really hates when people touch her paws also. They look like mittens

Nena met some new friends yesterday [05OCT2010]. She was calm and collected until they barked at her. Then she freaked out! lol

She started whining and jumping around. I knew she wanted to go when she started tugging and pulling me away from the scene. I tried to have her stay a little bit, but she wasn't having it. I plan to take her around other dogs more often. She'll have to get used to other dogs being around since everyone here in Sicily seems to have one...lol.

This was right before they started barking and my Nena poofed out of there...lol

Great beach pictures! I love the way her one ear turns back. My Coby's ear used to do the same way but it is pretty well in control now. It only turns when he gets excited.

Her ear is always flipped. It looks so funny. If I correct it then it goes right back when she starts playing lol

Emmy and Nena, welcome to DP from Cyndy and the girls from Texas. Thank you for serving our country. My son is a junior in high school and is in ROTC and Color Guard. He wants to go into the Army.

Nena that was fun and what good narrator you are! LOL...I love the thoughts on the socks with sandals, that was great.
Ice would love to swim with you, he would be in love. Was Nena all tuckered out that night?

Those other dogs have a nice dog run there. Nena will get use to it, right now barking dogs are a little scary to such a young pup. Soon she will show her attitude right back at them! It's interesting to know that Sicily is such a dog country.
When you return to the states, will it be easy to bring her?

Kian, There are plenty of dogs around here. I was surprised also. I never really payed much attention to it until I got my Nena. Kind of like buying that new car. You never see people driving it until you buy it. Then you see it everywhere on the roads lol. It will be a bit difficult to bring her but I am going to do it. It also depends where I go after here. Sometimes we are sent to places which do not allow us to bring pets
