I will call the vet and see what they tell me. It's kind of hard to go see the vet unless I have an appointment. They are located on base. She does have an appointment in a couple days, but i will see if they can bump it up.

Perhaps she is holding her pee. When she goes it is a lot. The thing is that she starts to go, but when she hears me she tries to stop in order to run outside as though she knows that she is doing something wrong.

I will start to crate her during the night again. During the day I am not home now as my work hours have changed. I leave the house at around 4am and get home around 2 to 3pm. She is always happy and there is no pee or poop in the laundry room. Should I also crate her when I go to work? That would be crating at night, then get up in the morning and let her out before work so she can do her business and eat breakfast. Wait 'till she does her stuff if she needs to and then crate her until I get home from work?

Yes crate at night, if she is doing well doing the day then continue. However, that is a very long time for a puppy to wait, if she is holding it too long it can cause a UTI. She is 4 months now? You are looking at 5 hours the longest she can go. Is there someone that can come and walk her halfway during your day?

I still believe she isn't going outside at night, def go out with her and encourage her. If a UTI is suspected, then you will need to bring a sample in. Don't worry I had to this as well. Allie was going frequently, she was fine, it was just her playing and I had to do some more training. This is how I got the sample, I had a mayonnaise bottle with a flat lid and small lip around it. I cleaned it & the jar thoroughly with hot, hot soapy water and let it dry. As she squatted I put the mayo lid under her, yes you will get pee on your hand, I have latex gloves but I didn't like to use them. I made sure my hands were very clean before catching the speciman.
Then I poured it in the Mayo jar, it took me two times to get a good sample. Not much is needed and in 15 minutes I had the results. I didn't need a appt for it, I called the clinic and they said just to bring the sample in. Check with the clinic and see what the suggest first.

Kian,

Thanks so much. I will call them in the morning and and see if they have the same quick service here.

Unfortunately, until my family gets here, there is no one to take her out when I go to work. I will take her out in the middle of the night when I am home, which is every night now. During the day on work days I will leave her crate open so she can go outside. I don't want to cause her any discomfort. You are correct, she will be 4 months on November 2nd.

I wonder if she is trying to release her very last little bit just before going to her bed, knowing that it may be a very, very long time before she is able to go out again.

I'm glad you are going to check with the vet and obtain a sample. You may have to find someone, that you pay, to come in and walk your dog for the next few months.

Kian, you are so sweet! I did laugh though when you said you had latex gloves available but preferred NOT to use them. It's a Mum thing to be sure, canine or otherwise.

OHM,

Her bed is located in the living room separate from her crate in the laundry room. She is free to leave her bed at any time. This is also why I am not sure what her confusion is. Sometimes when walking around she will run there and pee. There's got to be something there which she has picked out as a mark. I have moved her bed and cleaned cleaned cleaned...lol. Let's see what she figures out now :)

I laughed at Deb's comment to put your shoes in the closet. It was a couple of years before I could trust Prince around my shoes. He knew "leave it" well except when it came to shoes and if they were at his level, they belonged to him.

There may be a urine odor under the tile which hadn't been cleaned properly previously that Nena can still smell. It may be necessary to soak the area in an enzyme cleaner or place a piece of furniture or covering over the area to deter her marking.

Their sense of smell is so keen that they can smell things that may be many years old and buried or covered over.

Princelover,

Thanks for the tips. I did move her bed and scrubbed the area. When she was in the living room today she didn't seem to have an interest for that area. She went there a couple times as though looking for her bed, but then ran away.

She is in her crate at night and is doing better with her pee again. Today she did something she has never done before though. When I took her out in the morning she did her normal thing and went pee. Then she ran in to eat her breakfast, look at it, and ran back out to go pee a bit more. Almost as though she cut it short and then remembered to finish. I was amazed because she didn't just go pee by her food in the laundry room. Even though she had to go right there and then, she still went back outside.

Thank you all for the tips!

Nena and I went out for a walk in the park today. It was sunny out even though it rained most of the day. The grass was a bit wet and Nena seemed to like that. She kept rolling in it...lol.

At one point we were walking and I felt Nena falling behind so I lightly tugged on the leash as though I was still walking. Not enough to drag her, but enough to get her attention. She often stops to pic up twigs and whatever else she can get in her mouth. She wasn't trying to follow me. When I looked back poor little Nena was trying to go pee. She had the sadest look on her face because I was making her move. I felt horrible, but 5 seconds later we were off running again

More photos will follow soon, but here we are at the park!

Emmy, I think we've all done that, felt some resistence on the lead to discover a squatting dog you hadn't noticed. I've certainly done that.

The grass was a bit wet. It felt so good I couldn't resist throwing myself on the ground. I like to run off and crash :)

YAY for Nena progress! It is normal for pup to do just what Nena did, go back out and pee. It shows she is recognizing the feeling and responding, that is fantastic. She is still at the age where she hasn't learned to "pee" it all out yet, that will come with time. Heck my two seem to pee and then pee several more times in the morning before coming back in.

Emmy and Nena we are waving back from the states.

Sadie G did post a shadow pic on FB, I wonder who she was waving at???

I enjoyed the video, lots of green grass to roll on. Is there a leash law there? Nena is getting big and a beauty. I bet you are excited for your family to meet her. How soon till they come?
