Unfortunately, the sending non-profit has not had any luck finding a home for her on their own.
Our rescue is unique in that we don't discriminate based on distance. We help whoever needs us most - and more often that is shelters and pounds south of the border, Ohio especially. We were connected with this particular non-profit when one of their members did a leg of transport for a dog that we took from a gassing pound in Georgia (Beamer!!). US shelters and pounds are so overloaded with young, happy, healthy dogs that 100 runs are being doubled up,and they have to make the decision to euthanize 20 at a time. Here in Ontario, dogs are typically in danger of being euthanized usually only when they have overstayed their welcome in the system (ie. there is no interest in being adopted) - an 11 run kennel will often still have 2 or 3 kennels open.
