I was overjoyed to see that you and Nena are still together! She's growing into such a beauty. Am I the only one who sees a bit of doberman in her? She's so lovely, with such stunning eyes :D

More than a bit of Dobie, Shari!

Emmy, I'm thrilled for you. That is fantastic news that you can keep Nena. We had all feared the worst.

Me, too; me, too. I've thought about you nearly every day afraid that we didn't hear from you because you had to give Nena up. Whew!! What a relief.

How come none of us thought to mention one of the electronic devices to deter barking? I just thought of that today. Are you familiar with them? Even though things are better (and you have a great landlord), it might be something to consider if she still barks too much.

Welcome back!!

Because they are generally considered inhumane and are NOT a long term solution.

Family! how is everyone doing? Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome back!

Mari, thanks for the suggestion. I found information on them while doing a search online about barking. My issue is that I don't want her to be afraid of barking. She is a dog and dogs will bark. I'm not going to tell another human being to stop walking because I hear their steps in my apartment. My neighbor is just complaining for some odd reason. As Nena is growing, she has been barking less. She has also settled down some and is not running around all crazily like she used to lol...

Are these devices inhuman? I wouldn't say so. They are if used incorrectly. They can be used as a training tool, but could easily be used improperly. I am not a trainer or have that much experience; therefore, I opted not to get one.

Take care, DP!

Sorry for the confusion about the electronic device. I wasn't referring to the shock collar, but to the sound device that puts out a high pitched sound when they bark. Not something they wear. I would never use the collars.

Today, Nena found a new toy! My laundry detergent... Now I don't have to do laundry today!!! Woohooooo!

But I had to clean up the detergent through 5 rooms lol

Eeek. Laundry detergent and puppies don't mix well. You should keep an eye on her incase she ingested any (which she probably did if the container was opened/leaked). I can't imagine good things can come from that.

Thanks... She's fine. I was chasing her while she spilled it everywhere. Then she wet outside while I cleaned. So fun! :(

The barking devices are not inhumane! I use one. They don't deter all barking, just continued barking. They are not harmful in any way but they have worked extremely well with my two dogs. The dogs have learned that they can bark 3 times before the unseen master tells them to "shut up!" It merely controls the constant and unwanted nerve wracking barking. They also can be used as an invaluable training tool.

Shock collars are a whole different category of device of which I don't approve.

My mistake, and I'd like to apologize for the confusion! I thought that maribd55 was referring to shock collars (as everyone can tell)...

Lynners, I thought so too. I'm glad we all agree that shock collars are inhumane.

That is great news Emmy. You'll have to post some pictures of the new place. Congratulations!
