you can buy persimmiion pulp sometimes already pulped . I guess thats how you say it . But its smashed persimmions with the seeds out . We have a press we use. Their are lots of ways of doing it I have a couisin who takes the seeds out and uses her food proc.

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Hope I explain it ok. I'm a hilbilly so sometime my explanations are werid. sorry LOL

LOL Brenda, I think your explanations are just fine.

I've never had persimmons either. I'm thinking they might taste somewhat like a fig, am I right?

LOL Brenda!! As RJM said...your explanation was just right.

I've never worked with persimmons so I had no idea what you do with them. I didn't know if you juice them and then use the flesh or...I will see what I can come up. I will check the market tomorrow to get some.

Mike likes spicey cookies so I'd like to try these for him.

These persimmon cookies sound delighful. I know Mike would probably enjoy them, as well. I adore persimmon puddings and there are several different variations of the pudding that they make in this area. All are delicious.

I always just used a colander to process the fruit but it would be great to find it already in pulp form. The pulp also freezes very well to be used at a later time.

This is a favorite Christmas cookie recipe of mine...it's just not Christmas without a batch or two.

Holly Cookies

1 stick of (real) butter
40 marshmallows
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons green food color
4 cups of corn flake cereal
sprinkles/jimmies or cinnamon red hot candies

1) Spray a sheet of waxed paper or aluminum foil with cooking spray.

2) Measure corn flakes into a large mixing bowl.

3) Melt the butter and marshmallows over medium heat in a large saucepan, do not boil.
When mixture is smooth, remove pan from heat and stir in vanilla and food coloring.

4) Pour marshmallow mixture over corn flakes and stir until the cereal is coated thoroughly.

5) Place spoonfuls of micture onto prepared waxed paper. Decorate with sprinkles or cinnamon red hot candies.

Kian, They are easy, and soooo addicting.
Whenver I take them anywhere, everybody ends up with green teeth and lips...LOL!

I've also made them with red food coloring and decorated with little silver ball candies, the combination of red and green cookies looks really pretty on a cookie tray.

Turkey meatloaf recipe, per RJM's request...

1 1/4 lbs ground turkey
1/3 cup seasoned dry bread crumb (I use whole wheat)
1/4 cup reduced-fat cheddar cheese
1/4 cup onion, minced
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper, freshly ground
I also add 2 cloves of minced garlic

Measure and hand mix, until just combined. Form into a loaf and put in the slow cooker. I cooked mine on low for about 7 hours, it would probably be done on high in about 4-5 (though it depends on your appliance).

Sauce:
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon spicy brown mustard

About an hour before I took it out I mixed this sauce up and spooned it over the top. I used BBQ sauce instead of Worcestershire and I only had dijon mustard, so I used that. It turned out really good, sweet and tangy and complimented the turkey really well :)

I made the meatloaf yesterday! It turned out great. You were right, very moist & tasty!
My brother called right when I had my hands in it mixing it up. He wondered why I was making meatloaf at 10am. LOL He was really surprised when I told him I was putting it in the crockpot. He has trouble eating some things that are dry, so he was really interested in this.
