Will hit us sometime between Saturday night & Sunday morning.

My main concern is the flood warning for low lying coastal areas

at the moment yes, i'm in perth :( right in the middle of the highlighted area that will be affected.

I dont think I've experience anything close to a cyclone so this will be a whole new experience.

They are pretty unpredictable so for all we know it could move in a different direction or completely decrease in intensity or it could go the other way and actually stay at this intensity before it hits

I don't think they'll know for sure how serious it will be till tomorrow afternoon, I guess then if its going to be quite sever we'll have to think about what to do.

Cyclones rarely come this low, its the first one in my lifetime. Being on the coast we already get the stronger winds so I would imagine these will be quite bad. They are predicting 120km/hr winds.

Spoke to mum tonight, she said she'll be incredibly worried for all us kids if it hits, we are all spread out over perth. My twin sister msged me tonight telling me to be prepared and be careful. My brother also lives on the coast but south of the river so I hope he'll be ok :(

Candice! how scary! I had no idea that was happening around the world. Those images really make it too real.
I guess its good that yall have some advantage with an early notice! Board up your windows, move your cars from under powerlines, prepare for water damage.
dont know how close to the coast you are but I sure hope you miss the brunt of it! bunker down and stay so safe!

I bet the grocery stores are cleaned out!

I will be doing groceries today to stock up :)

Just had a look at the weather, bad news is that they've re-tracked it & it looks as though it will hit closer to Perth but the good news is it should be a low pressure system by the time it hits rather than a category 1 cyclone. Will still probably be one big storm!

Woke up about 3am this morning to the sound of pelting rain, thunder & lightning.. in my half asleep state I thought the cyclone had hit & woke hubby up in a panic lol There was no wind so obviously not the cyclone.

Is that a hurricane? I've always thought "cyclone" were the same as "tornados" (harkens back to the Wizard of Oz "We're up in the cyclone, Toto!")

Whatever it is, I hope it fizzles out by land fall and everyone is safe.

I believe cyclones and hurricanes are basically the same thing. Just depends on which part of the world you are in.
If it fizzles, at least you are stocked up and that is good. Was there much left in the store?

Yep cyclones & hurricanes are the same thing, we dont really get tornadoes here (little ones occasionally down south).

We get cyclones hitting Australia every year, but they never come down as far South as Perth (usually fizzles out and we just get some rain). This one hit up north a few days ago, they thought it was going back out to sea, but it just increased in intensity when it did then started travelling South. Still looks like it'll just be a low pressure system when it hits, fingers crossed it stays that way!

heading out to the shops now, so will see if people have panicked and cleared the shelves.

I hope not because I genuinely had to do my grocery shopping today & I need to buy food lol

I hope you got stocked up! Now hunker down and stay safe!
If I understand the time difference you are almost a full day ahead of where I am in the US.

Please check in when you can and let us know how you are.
