Thanks everyone, I am enjoying her more than I thought possible!

@ Mary Ann, I've moved out to Sherwood Park now, but was born & lived most of my life in Edmonton. What a small world!

Just had our first visit to the vet for our post-adoption checkup. Revising the breed: my vet sees no border collie or other herding breed in her, the body type, stance, etc... is all wrong. She's put her primary breed as Finnish Spitz (which is funny, as that's the first thing I thought when I saw her), secondary ... well ... maybe some Keeshond, Samoyed, other European breed, and agreed with my assessment - who knows? She only weighs 22.2 lbs. (You're right, Phyrie, "Black Pound Hound" LOL)

Otherwise, she's very pleased. Jinx is healthy, alert, and happy! She thinks I'll have a lot of fun training her, and that she'll learn quickly! So all is well.

Sandy, I am over the moon happy for you and Jinx! I was pleased to read the "revised edition" of her potential breed types. The first thing I thought when I saw her picture was that she was of "Northern Breed" descent. The tail and ears were my first clue.

What a pretty little girl she is. Yay for black dogs! It's no wonder you fell in love with her, and clearly she has with you. I'm so glad that you are moving forward and while no one could ever replace Cheyenne, Jinx has filled the whole in your heart with a new heart, just for her. She is truly heaven sent.

I am looking forward to hearing all about the adventures of Jinx.

Thanks Deb. I'm sure there'll be lots of adventures with this little girl & am looking forward to them!

I certainly agree about the tail & ears, which is why I thought Spitz rather than Border Collie. The vet also suggested Schipperke for her black coloring and smaller size. So she's probably got a little of a lot in her, LOL! But mostly those Spitz type breeds. Life certainly looks to be getting interesting!

At least I'll get my hips working properly again!

Congratulations on your precious new addition, there is something special about those dogs that pick you. I hope Jinx brings you as much joy and kisses as my black pups have brought me!

Sandy, it's funny that you mentioned Schipperke as a possible donor to her mix. I was trying to describe her to the OH today, and I mentioned that breed as a possibility due to her size. I just love her tail, and of course, her sweet expression.

My family was so happy to hear that you had found a new love that also had found you.
