Meet Herbie Girl, today's Puppy of the Day!

Postby Herbie Girl on Sun Mar 20, 2011 1:08 pm

..unfortunately, somebody named "Corgi Mommy" stole copyrighted photos of my dog, claimed them as her own, posted them to a gallery, and was selected as today's Puppy of the Day as "Artemis the Pembroke Welsh Corgi". This is all completely fabricated, and doesn't sit very well with me. However, I'm glad she's very well liked. Even though there are a lot of dishonest schumcks in this world, and having my photos stolen should make me much more reserved about ever sharing anything like this again, I'll still continue to post photos of her.

Puppy on the left: Claimed to be "Artemis" by "Corgi Mommy". Puppy on right? My dog Herbie, in a photo I took this morning. Funny how similar that patio looks!

I've notified the admins, would love to have credit given where credit is due, and have "Artemis" removed from today's page. I would gladly submit additional photos of Herbie Girl, because she really is pretty darn cute, and would love to be featured as the Puppy of the Day in the future!

Without further ado, here is the REAL Herbie Girl.

Here's a link to a goofy video I made of Herbie. Posted to YouTube before Artemis the Imposter was even born!

And another goofy video I did for a local pet food store:

You pup is adorable and so sorry that some child stole your pictures. I love the pic you posted with today's date, just perfect. Sadly there are many fake profile posted and we have caught a few of our regular members dogs stolen as well.
Children should not play on the Internet, it seems parents give too much freedom with what thier children do and haven't taught them the value of honesty and integrity.

Another moderator has reported and sorted this as well, you can thank her! Hopefully Admin will get this sorted out, they aren't usually around on a Sunday.

Herbie is a cutie that's for sure.

Thanks! Herbie has changed so much in the last year, it's hard to believe she's the same. She started out grey and really fluffy (we originally thought she had a fluffy gene, which is a rare/recessive gene in Corgis) but has since turned into a non-fluffy, almost all red and white. She's still pretty fluffy though.

Thanks also to the admins for looking into this. Not sure what can be done now that she's already been featured, but like I said, I'll gladly supply additional pictures and a quick bio for a re-do. The ones I've posted are just the tip of the iceberg!

Sadly this isn't the first stolen puppy and featured on the Puppy of the Day, we have caught a few. I think she still looks quite fluffy! Now I will check out your videos.

The videos are cute and what good editing there, I need to learn how to do that. Did you win the contest in the second one? Guess I can say howdy neighbor! I'm below Durango on the NM side.

I'm sorry that you were a victim to some child who thinks its okay to go around claiming other photos as their own. Unfortunately, quite a bit of that goes on. Sometimes the fakes are easier to spot than others.

Herbie is a beautiful girl though, as a puppy and an adult. I hope she gets her own day in the spotlight and receives credit where credit is due. I do hope that the DP Admin is able to sort this all out quickly.

Thanks for the video link, very sweet film, and we appreciate the clarification from everyone. It is always disheartening to go into something with trust and then to find out it is a fraud. It hurts, but a saving grace is to remember all of the truly nice people who participate in The Daily Puppy. See you tomorrow for the uplift of the day!!!!

We did win the contest, and it was a very valuable contest to win (about a years worth of food and all the toys and treats we can handle!) Needless to say, Herbie is the most spoiled Corgi this side of the Queen's Castle. I'm not a video editing pro by any means, but those were both made with the video camera built into an iPhone, and Windows Movie Maker (free and probably already installed on your computer). I wish I'd taken more video of her as a baby, but I think I averaged 100 photos/day for the first 4 months of her life, so I could pretty much make a movie from still shots.

Do you go to Durango very often? I haven't been in a few years, but that whole area (NM included) is gorgeous!

Thanks for the welcome everybody, I'm going to start adding more photos to the gallery this afternoon, so stay tuned for Corgi overload.

Congrats on the win! It was very well done and fun.

OH (hubby) and I recently moved here from N. Utah and I am still getting used to it. I do go to Durango as much as I can, I just love it there. Hope you stick around, we are a fun group here and many of us have become friends.

I'll definitely stick around, I've received so many nice messages and feedback, there's no way I'd let one person ruin it. And with so much pain and suffering in the world, sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh. I've been trying to think of how to turn this whole spectacle around into some type of fund raiser for Japan, especially because Corgis are so popular there. But I don't know how to do that, or how willing the Daily Puppy is to partner on activities like that. I'll definitely be donating all I can, and might try to work something out with her Facebook page (like, I'd donate $1 for every person who "likes" her page or something.. but with my luck 50,000 people would like her overnight and then I'd feel really bad). Here's her page in case something materializes with that idea..

Oh well.. what can you do. I've been laughing quite a bit, and getting a huge kick out of calling Herbie "Artemis" all day. She looks at me with this confused look on her face, cocks her head to one side.. lays down.. poor thing. Artemis she is not!

Herbie is adorable, and she has a great name too! Artemis is a little too frou-frou for the little clown dog that a Corgi is! I've never owned one, but they sure are cute as hell.

There has been lots of cases of stolen dog pics here, even mine. I find it truly baffling why anyone would do that. What could anyone possibly gain from claiming someone's else dog as their own? It's so strange to me. But these kids on spring break can find all kinds of asshat-ery to get up to. I'll be glad when they go back to their dungeons, er, I mean, classrooms!

Welcome to you, and Herbie! From Phyrie, and Kiba the Cavalier.

Herbie's Mum, I am so glad that you are able to laugh at this. I was absolutely appalled when I came on and read the messages I had received from one of our other Moderators. As you also stated, there are far bigger issues in this life than a few stolen photos. However, I would be quite annoyed if it happened to me.

This is not the first time this has happened, and ironically, I noticed "Artemis" when they first joined. I thought the bio was suspect, but there was no clear evidence of a fake in progress so there was little I could do.

I loved the videos. Herbie is just adorable. A friend of mine has a Corgi, "Taffy" who is the light of her life. I can see what a character Herbie is, and I love the name. The "Love Bug" series of movies were a favourite of mine as a child.

It also occurred to me that since Herbie is now more than a year old, she could be featured as a "Grown Up Puppy of the Day". I'm sure the other Mods would be on board with me for pushing for that to happen. You seem to have loads of great photos (I love the hat and tie) so please try submitting Herbie for that. As a rule, we Mods have no say whatsoever as to whom is featured but in this case, I think we might be able to "put in a good word".

With the exception of the immature children, who seem to make their presence known more during the holidays (bored and unsupervised), the rest of us are quite a friendly group. Congratulations on winning the contest for the Pet Food Store.

Welcome to the Daily Puppy from Oliver & Henry, and their Mum, in London, Ontario

Herbie is beautiful! I'm glad you will be sticking around as I would love to see more pics of this girl

I'm so sorry for all that transpired, but kids think its funny. We don't.

I do believe you just gained a lot of new friends here, a BIG welcome to you and Herbie!!

Herbie is simply adorable and as one of the regular members, I would like to extend an apology for the stealing of your dog as featured yesterday, in the hoax of Artemis. Our mods and admin do a super job but cant catch all the imposters before something like this happens. Why do people do things such as this? You just cant fix stupid!

I am glad you will be staying around so we can see more pictures of Herbie Girl and learn more about you. I do like your attitude regarding the whole debacle and hope to be able to comment on Herbie as Grown Up Puppy of the Day very soon.

Welcome to Herbie and her owners from Sher in NC and my boys, Prince and Coby.
