Hello from Cocopup25!

Hello! I came across the Daily Puppy website about 4 years ago and I have been hooked since! I'm finishing up my honours bachelor of science in animal biology at the University of Guelph in about 3 weeks...I'm so excited! My goal in life is to work with animals; whether it be a become a veterinarian, a vet tech, or a researcher, I know I want to do something with animals. I have a HUGE interest in dogs, especially behaviour and training. I got my first dog about 5 years ago and she's basically been the love of my life, haha. She's a miniature pinscher/chihuahua mix named Coco. On my spare time I enjoy working with her and teaching her new tricks. She's really smart and knows basic obedience, as well as tons of tricks from shake a paw to speak to pawing at treats to show me she wants them while waiting for the command to take it. I was able to teach her to ring a bell at the back door to let myself and my parents know that she needs to go out - it still amazes me how she was able to make that connection! This past summer I adopted her half brother, Lucky, who is also the same breed and around the same age. He's currently my new challenge and I plan to do a lot of work with him once school is over. I just started clicker training him, and he seems to be responding well. Clicker training is new to me, and I'm still trying to figure out how to do it properly.

Anywho, I just thought I'd finally introduce myself as I've been a "lurker" for the past 4 years

Hi Katherine! Welcome to the Daily Puppy!

It's very interesting to me that you are studying at the University of Guelph. My Oliver is a neurology patient there, and has been for the past two and a half years. We go there often for check ups. He used to under Dr. Wolfe's care, but she has since moved on and now we see Dr. Benedicenti. We live in London, so we're fairly close.

I watched your other video of your dogs and they are adorable, and well trained. As I mentioned in that thread, there are tons of tips and training advice in the Forums all peppered throughout. When I spot a link that I think might be of interest to you, I'll send you the link.

Many of us regulars were lurkers long before we committed to joining and then posting. It's lovely to have you join us. Good luck to you with your studies!
