Texas Heelers

These are Aussie/Heeler crosses or (more rarely) Aussie/BC crosses. Here are some websites or articles explaining them:

This is what Bogie is. Mom was a registered Blue Heeler; Dad was a registered red-tri Aussie. All 6 puppies were cute as buttons, but Bogie was the only one not already spoken for when I got there. He was born on a cattle ranch and both parents worked cattle. So far he is turning out to be a great dog -- we got him after we suddenly lost our other camping dog last December.

He is smart, spunky, mischevious, happy, and attached to his people. I'm sure he would make a great cattle dog -- he herds the cats all the time (much to their dismay!).

We had an aussie/blue heeler for 15 years. He was the best dog, very loving and very loyal. I could go on and on  There are photos of him in my profile. We now have a BC mix, we think with greyhound, but we're not sure what else is mixed in there.

Do you have any photos of Bogie? I checked your profile but didn't see any there either. I would love to see what he looks like.

I would also love to see pictures of Bogie! I bet he's a pretty guy. And just out of curiosity, why did you choose a Texas Heeler? Have you had one before?

OK NOW I've done Bogie's page so you can see pictures. He also has an avatar now.

Bogie is often mistaken for a GSD or Rott mix. However he does have blue-grey spotting/shading on his lower legs and stomach. His ears started out folded like an Aussie; during Spring Break they pricked like a Heeler; now one's sorta folded and the other pricked. He can't make up his mind (or rather his ears can't--LOL).

The other 5 puppies were all blue/grey spotted. He was known as the 'dark' one.

Why did I choose this mix? I've had an Aussie before and I always like working dogs the best for 'camping buddies' -- which whatever puppy we got was going to be. I needed a dog that could hike and keep up with my son, was intelligent, easy to train, not too prey driven, and had an easy-to-care-for coat. I had heard about Texas Heelers before, but I really was just idly searching Craig's List one day and this litter popped up. These pups seemed they would have all the attributes I was looking for; when I went to see them the parents had wonderful temperments, cinching the deal. Just a matter of looking at the right time, I guess.

Bonus: Bogie was only $35; there are some breeders that charge several HUNDREDS for these type of puppies!!

I looked at the photos. He's very cute! I would love to see more as he grows, he looks now like he has some shepherd or something mixed in there. I'm sure that will disappear though as he grows, I think its just the stage he's in right now.

We paid $25.00 for Boomer 18 years ago, so yes $35.00 in todays market is a great price!

Very cute boy and thank you for adding the photos

Oh my goodness....he's adorable!!!

You should make that picture, or even a more recent one your avatar so we can see him whenever you post. What a lovely fellow indeed.
