Banjo the Keeshond Puppy

Postby mintyduck on Sat Apr 16, 2011 4:43 pm

Hiya! I'm Ash from Portland, OR. A little over two weeks ago, we brought home this ornery little guy to join our family. Banjo joins Maggie, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and Sage and Sasha, a couple of agitated cats. He's tough to photograph, but we managed to do a proper photo shoot this morning.

And so Maggie doesn't feel too left out ...

It's been an interesting couple of weeks. He got a spider bite or a bee sting or something that got infected, so we had to give him antibiotics, and boy did he have a hilarious "no" face no matter what we tried -- cheese, pill pockets, etc. The little guy is so bright that he figured out how to eat the pill pocket around the actual pill. Fortunately, he's 100% now and happily hopping around after Maggie, tugging with her on various slobber-covered chew toys.

Oh my, Keeshond puppies are one of my absolute favorites. They are such cute little fluff balls and Banjo is no exception to that!

Maggie is darling as well.

Banjo and Maggie are adorable! Keeshonds are lovely dogs and Banjo is a great example. They remind me of an extra large Pomeranian in some ways. 8)

Welcome to the Daily Puppy from Oliver & Henry, and their Mum, in London, Ontario.

Welcome to DP! Your pups are beautiful, love the name Banjo. (I have Banjo, not a dog). Banjo is a cute ball of fluff.
We been to Portland quite a bit when a daughter and her hubby were there for school. I enjoyed it there and it seemed very dog friendly.

Thanks, everyone! Portland has been a wonderful place to have dogs, for sure. We moved from TX, so it's been quite a novelty to have so many great local pet stores, so many varied dog parks, and friendly people in general who love to say hi to the pups. The only complaint is constant wet dog every time we let them out!

Looking forward to getting to know you guys more as I peruse the forums more extensively!

Welcome Ash and company...I have found that Keesies co exist with the kittys very well.I love the breed...After I married the president of the Ohio Valley Keeshond club we always had a few Keesies around the house along with my Siberian Huskies and we showed both breeds extensively.

Although I have known lots of Kees breeders in the US and Canada I have noticed that not as many Kees are being shown as in the past...The breed does not enjoy the popularity it once did and I'm not sure why...They are wonderful dogs, jolly companions, easily trained and good OB competitors...My OH once saw a "Blue Pom"in Canada and she wanted it because it looked like a mini Kees.It was a lovely little dog but the owner was not about to part with it

..The show grooming can be a bit fierce but is easily handled by an experienced Kees person...(I was NOT allowed to groom HER dogs) ..However she could groom and show mine [or tell ME how  ] Anyway, after 7 years as best friends followed by 29 years of marriage we are still Truck'in...And I am still quite fond of her :D
