Deerie me wrote:Cerridwen is pronounced "Kerrid when" and can be spelt with one "r" or two. Ceridwen was an enchantress, mother of Morfran and Creirwy. Welsh poetry and folklore refers to her possessing the cauldron of Poetic Inspiration (Awen). There is also a tale which tells of her swallowing her servant Gwion Bach. He is then reborn through her as the poet Taliesin. She is a monn goddess and also the goddess of rebirth and inspiration.

There is a huge amount of information concerning Freya as she is one of the major deities in Norse mythology, often referred to as Odin's lover. She is multifaceted being the goddess of love, fertility and beauty but also a warrior goddess and leader of the Valkyries. She was immensely powerful and lay claim to half the souls of the bravest soldiers to die in battle.

Thanks so much! I really do enjoy Freya immensely,

it's never been such a tough decision but I have a feeling I'll know once I see her.

Tracy, thanks for the tutorial. I learned a great deal. I think Cerridwen is a lovely name for its meaning and its sound. It is unique and feminine, along with being a great conversation starter. I know I would certainly have to inquire about a name like that. My Mythology knowledge is non-existent virtually.

Freya is also pretty and immediately reminds me of a "Freulein" (German, sp?) or "Frau".

It's hard to choose a name as it means so much and it's for a lifetime.

But remember, Freya had cats.

I agree that you will know when you meet her for the first time. You have picked some fabulous names, Trisha. I love Cheza or Cerridwen, personally!!

Keep us posted!! And I look forward to lots of photos and the official naming announcement!
