I can’t even begin to thank everyone for their kind words and support. It means so much to have found this community of people who truly understand the overwhelming pain of losing a beloved companion. In the past few days I have read a lot of the threads here at the Rainbow Bridge, and am overwhelmed at the generosity of people who have suffered a similar loss and continue to feel their own grief yet are willing to reach out and offer comfort .
I especially want to thank ‘4 the dogs’ for the image of Brady waking up and finding himself in a new and wonderful place. It made me smile to think of him happily exploring his new surroundings. He was a very intelligent, energetic guy who loved nothing (except his stuffed ducky) more than what we called ‘adventuring’. He must have had some hound in him, because when we were out walking he would often find some exciting scent to follow, and he liked to hold his head up into the wind and just sniff. I think what makes it so very hard right now is that he had such a zest for life. On warm Spring days he would go out and find some nice patch of grass, roll around on his back for a bit, and then just flop on his side with a groan of pure pleasure. I will always be grateful that my prayers that his final day would be warm and sunny were answered.
Again, thank you so much to everyone for understanding my grief and offering your comforting words.
