I’m Emma. I signed up recently, but have been a shadow-lurker for about 4 to 5 years now. When I got my first dog, a Jack Russell called Tipster...For short, of course
The plan was to sign up as soon as possible, because I was eager to talk to other dog-people, but when I was able to register, life got in the way. Then there was no reason to register. And now there is again.
So there's no confusion, I'll break the important parts down.
I'm a "youngster" at 14. Home schooled (Home educated if you're in the UK, like a certain someone) and 'anti-didactic". Basically, lessons aren't planned. I ask a question, get the answer, learn something.
Kayenne is doing well in her training (as am I!) and is currently learning instant commands (Sitting as soon as she's told sort of thing) and some distance commands, but those are just a refresher. She was already taught that "Sit!" means to sit where you are, not where you think you should be. She's got a few very good, solid commands...Such as "Wait". She knows never to move from the wait, until the person handling her tells her to (usually me, as I'm her owner). I'm proud of her "Focused Heeling" which all my dogs do...But, it looks just that little more impressive with a dog that could mash you into the side of a fast moving car.
I'm hoping to do a small bit of agility when she hits the 18 month mark, but that would just be for bonding purposes. I don't fancy running around a ring with a clutzy Doberman, sending her over jumps which she'll surely knock down
I've grown up around dogs my entire life, of all shapes, sizes and colours. I’m definitely a “big dog” person, but, of course, I make allowances.
I've attached a few pictures, but there are more in the dogs' albums.
5 weeks.
