My goodness, I didn't realize it has been since June since I posted in Sadie's thread. Bad Mommy!!!

I need to load photos to photobucket to post on here. I'll do that this evening!

For now, just bumping this thread. I can tell you all, I "liked" the Humane Society that we got Sadie from on fb and posted a current photo of her, and thanking them. They were thrilled to hear about her and to see a current photo :D

The town started developing a new park about 2 minutes from us about a year ago. It was halted due to a battle over funds, but they are finally developing it again. It has a walking trail that goes around the entire perimeter which is 10 - 15 acres. I'm horrible on measuring, but in comparison to my daughter's 7 acres, that's what I'm guessing.

I've been taking Sadie there a lot lately because I can put her on the 30 ft leash. It's so huge, and lots of field area, that it's not crowded (so far). If a bike rider comes along we just wander into one of the field area's and keep on walking. Sadie loves it! This morning when I took her the third bicyclist that came along was so quiet behind us I didn't get the leash cranked in soon enough. She just stopped and watched him cycle on by! That was a first, she usually lunges at bicycles. (Stupid kids teasing her with their bikes when she was younger)
She got lots of "good girls" for that one!!

Here are a few pics from one of our days at the park.

One area has this tunnel to get to the little pond in the back area. She wasn't a bit afraid, walked right in. My usually skittish to anything new girl

On one side of the pond

Checking out the playground since there weren't any kids around. They have "real" restrooms and drinking fountains in this area too.

Image

This was the other night. She was acting like a boy, marking her territory all around that park. Then scratching at the grass with her back paws - every time

Image

One view from the walking trail. It was such a pretty evening that night, I had to take a photo. All I've ever had with me there is the phone so far. Someday I'll take a real camera.

That is one nice playground! I don't see any nice ones like that in my town!
I love that picture of Sadie marking 'her' territory! ADORABLE! haha!
And that last picture of that BEAUTIFUL VIEW! WOW! It's looks SO BEAUTIFUL!

What lovely photos! Linda, the park area looks beautiful and I am most impressed with Sadie Grace! She is growing up now, and becoming less and less fearful, which is wonderful. She'll always be your baby though. ♥

How lovely to send an updated photo to the Humane Society as I'm sure they love to hear about the success stories. I was amused at Sadie marking her territory and doing what I like to call the "boot scoot" to cover it up. (Oliver and Henry do that whenever they are happy, especially on the carpet with all four legs...like the moonwalk). I then break into a Brooks & Dunn song "Boot Scootin' Boogie". :P (I hope you think of that every time Sadie does that from now on. )

We have had some particularly beautiful weather of late, although the humidity here is on the rise. It's very muggy after that huge storm blew through a few nights ago. The sky in the photo you took looks so blue and the clouds so white.

I was also highly impressed with Sadie and the Bike, as well as the tunnel. Good girl indeed!

Good girl Sadie!
Monster has a problem with bikes too. There should be a doggie support group for this.

She looks so happy and content in the second picture.

Lately I've been seeing this ad for some brand of food on here and the dog reminds me of Sadie.

I will think of that every time now Deb! That's perfect

Ashley, I've seen that ad too. It always catches me off guard, that dog looks a lot like Sadie!

Thanks Cutiepants (sorry my mind went blank on your real name) . I'm getting old, forgive me :D
They just put in tennis courts. They are all fenced in so there won't be any chasing the balls. The town is really putting a lot of time into this now. Its coming together pretty fast, I'm glad! More people are starting to use it, and I've seen some of the same people there every day that we've gone.

A couple more photos.......

This one I forgot to post yesterday. It's one of my favorites.

Image

I took this one today just to add to my own personal Sadie photo collection. Then I realized that my shadow was in it too.
So....hi from Sadie and me!

On another note. Not such a good one that turned out just fine. Sadie got attacked by another dog at the park today.
She is fine, it looked worse than it actually was. I think this dog was just warning her, and what looked like bites were warning nips. She has no marks on her at all.

The two ladies who had the dog there were so apologetic. One stayed with me and Sadie while the other took the dog off to another area. The lady who stayed with us told me they had gotten the dog from a rescue just a few days ago and were trying to work with it, walking on a leash, etc etc. They were told by the shelter that the dog loves people but has aggression toward other dogs. They think it has been attacked in the past. It looked like a GSD/terrier mix, and was a little smaller than Sadie.

I thought the lady was going to cry, and she was shaking badly. She kept petting and loving on Sadie telling her she was so sorry and calling her baby. Of course Sadie ate that up! I could tell right away that Sadie was fine. She was immediately her bouncy happy self lapping up the attention from people. There was also a couple of bicyclists that stopped that I have seen there many times. The husband even told me at the beginning of our walk that my dog was a beauty  . They rode past us three more times on their bike ride while we finished our walk around the park, just to make sure Sadie was ok. Good people.

I did tell the lady that I was glad they rescued the dog. Not to give up, keep working with it and things would eventually get better. I do think they will keep a much tighter hold on that leash from now on, and I do think they realize the extent of the aggression now! It all happened so fast I didn't even find out if the dog was a male or a female. I'm thinking male, but I don't know that for sure.

Oh and we were on the OTHER side of the pond when this dog got loose from the lady who had hold of it. It ran Very fast to the side we were on. The other lady was ahead of us, and they both had to run in that heat quite a ways. The lady that stayed behind said she ran as fast as she could, and she said she has never in her life ran that far and that fast. She was scared.

The good thing is Sadie is just fine. She went trotting along afterwards her usual happy little self!

Yeah at first I thought she may have a secret life as a dog model. 8)

I'm so glad that Sadie is unharmed. It's always scary when something like that happens.

I wish I had something like that in walking distance. We only have two very small parks close by. I heard from someone that works at the city hall that they are planning on a dog park in the years to come though!

I'm so glad Sadie was okay, that is so scary. I like that the lady took responsibilty and apologized, I'm glad she realized to keep a tighter leash on that dog.

Yes Sadie is a beauty! I can't get her image out of my mind of her watching me in the room from the other side of the gate, she was so sweet wanting me to come play. I just love her!

It was pretty scary. And all happening at my feet! Sadie pretty much went into a submit mode until that dog got in her face, then Sadie started growling and snapping back. She's never done that before, but when its in your face!

Kian, Sadie will go upstairs every once in a while. I wonder if she is looking for that lady in that room to play with her? Sadie just loves you too!

Linda, I'm so sorry that happened to you and Sadie at the park. It must have been extremely alarming while it was occurring. I actually also feel sorry for the two ladies that have recently adopted this dog. You were very kind to be positive with them, and encouraging them to continue their efforts. Obviously, they really didn't know what the dog was capable of doing, but now they know.

The best part is that Sadie wasn't hurt! Good for her for growling back when required. She really is growing up.

I'm sure those two ladies will become wonderful dog owners, and I hope their new rescue is able to not be so afraid anymore that it feels the need to assert itself. I am also impressed by the general public at the park and how they kept an eye and double checked on you!

The more I learn about your area (many restaurants are featured in Indianapolis on the Food Network), the more desirable a destination it becomes! Lovely parks, wonderful people, great food and YOU! :D

I'm so relieved that Sadie wasn't hurt. As you said, it all happens so fast.

I'm sure Sadie is missing Kian. She is the "Animal Whisperer"!

Awwww, thank you Deb  . Anytime you want to make it a destination, you are most welcome! You would have a place to stay  .

We went back to the park just before lunch today and Sadie had no qualms about being there. She is such a calm, go with the flow girl. I adore this girl ♥
I'm sure if Sadie had been hurt my reaction may have been different. I could tell both of the ladies were very concerned. I couldn't let them go away with a bad feeling. Who knows what that poor dog they just rescued has been through in the past. I am thankful for people like them who adopt and take the time to work with and love dogs. With and without problems!

Linda, Twice I've thought I've commented on Sadie's pictures, but obviously it was all in my imagination.
Anyway, she looks like she's having a great time on her walk to and in the park. I'm glad she wasn't injured in her altercation with the loose dog, and how sweet of everyone to check on the two of you. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?

You are so sweet Linda! I was thinking of the DP as a whole for a possible destination in the future. :D While I know you would want to, it would impossible to host all of us. 8) I'm up for a trip all by myself too, as I think I need more of those. Be careful what you wish for, as the saying goes (otherwise I would not end a sentence in a preposition.)

RJM, you did make me laugh. Sometimes I swear I posted in a thread and then I can't find it the next day. I think that often happens when the boys are talking to me, and people want things while I'm trying to type on here.

Linda, you were so sweet with those women. Clearly they had no idea that this might happen, and are dog lovers. Sadie is an angel. She was able to sustain this attack, unharmed, while helping the other dog's new humans learn more about their rescue. ♥

Grace is her middle name after all. :D

It does! You know they were truly concerned and caring.

And it's ok, I know I've posted before too. Later when I go back there is nothing there! I always figured I forgot to hit submit
