So I went to the Isle of Wight last week with my family (including Monty and Woody of course) and our friends, who have two young children, Isaac and Leilah. We had a great time and, naturally, I took about a million pictures, so here are some:

Isaac in the stocks at Blackgang Chine (http://www.blackgangchine.com/index.php)

Leilah climbing on a stegosaurus (also at Blackgang)

Some pictures from Ventnor Botanic Garden

The needles at Needles Park (Alum Bay, Isle of Wight)

The boys on the local beach

Monty fell into a rockpool

I think this photo of Woody should be an ad for shampoo :P

Woody found his place!

Pretty pink flowers

This was our local beach, about 2 minutes walk from our caravan

We went to Robin Hill (http://www.robin-hill.com/index.php) where they have a falconry display! I was so glad to get this picture

When we got home yesterday we went over to my nanny's house for an Easter meal, so the boys got to play all day with Holly. They are absolutely shattered today, just sleeping constantly XD

Whew, sorry for the picture overload. But that's it all done now. I have about 500 other photos too :P

Love picture overload Gaby! Love your pictures, looks like a fun Holiday trip and wonderful pictures you have. Are you going to print and scrapbook these? I love that last shot of Holly, spectacular! Great shot of the falcon, you have so many beautiful pictures, hope you post more.

Would like to see a picture of your caravan, here we call them Motor Homes or Travel Trailers.

Great photos! I use to work at a Cherry Orchard and they used Falcons to chase away the other birds instead of using pesticides or inhumane methods! They gave us a demonstration at the end of the year. It was very neat!

Your dogs are beautiful!

Kian - We had a great time, and seeing our friends (who we don't see often enough) was so nice! I would love to print off some pictures but the computer is out of ink  yes from me printing off stuff for college (which have to be at least A4 size - it just drains the ink so fast) the caravan is one at the holiday park. It would be cool to have our own one but we don't have the space for it unfortunately. Still it was nice the one we did stay in, very small but cosy. Monty slept on the spare bed in my room, which was really nice (a treat for me because they usually sleep (happily) in the utility room)

snifferspommom - Thanks :D I live by the rule now that if you take enough photos (which for me always exceeds 200 XD) you are sure to get a few that you really like  strange to think this time last year I was taking about one photo a day on holidays, with the camera on my phone (I mean, gosh, how utterly amateur of me. :P i'm kidding)

DixieDoodle - Wow that's awesome! That's sure to be better for the plants anyway not using pesticides? And the environment in general. It must have been a cool demonstration as well!

We always get loads of comments about Monty on holiday (maybe people here are used to him by now :P or maybe they're just too miserable to care XD) funnily enough, when Woody was a fluffy puppy we got hardly anyone saying anything about him, now he's grown and big, he gets as many comments as Monty does!

Anyway, I actually have EVEN MORE photos, but this definitely is the last of them from this holiday...lol

So these two are from the week with my friends and their two dogs, Milo (black lab (he won grown up puppy one time)) and Dottie

Two more from Blackgang Chine
Leilah with the priest in nursery land

And my mum doing the same :P

Note the crutch and bionic leg. lol

Spot this in any of my other pictures in this thread? That dot man is my dad XD

It's a war monument

This really nice couple offered to take a picture of me and Monty at Alum Bay (needles park)
Image
And from the same day, a family photo, with the dogs staring at me as the camera was resting quite a while away from where they were sat, I had to sprint over to get in before the timer ended lol

This is what the dogs did most of the time they were there

Another flower picture from Ventnor Botanic Garden

And least but not last, my brother looking fly in my shades ;)

Now hopefully that's all of them, but I'll keep this thread for myself for other pictures I want to share that simply won't fit in the photography thread

Great photos Gaby! What a fun vacation, great memories!

I understand the amount of photos  . I can easily take over 200 before I even realize it. It helps to have a card with enough memory!

I especially like the photo of Holly. Great photo, love the look on her face!

The action shots of the dogs are just so fun.

By the way...why does your mum have a bionic leg?

Thanks, Linda :) I love taking photos now as memories, even if they aren't great they all hold a story

Margie - My mum dislocated her knee a short time ago, went to the docs and found that she's done far more damage than she thought and has to have an op. There was barely anything in her knee she didn't damage.

Kian - it was a bit of a struggle for her, we did a big walk one day, and even then it was quite short for us (a 'big' walk for us can be something like 5 hours XD) at only about an hour and a half long, and her knee was quite sore for the rest of the holiday. She refused to sit and do nothing, although dad, my brother and I had to walk the dogs on the beach without her as it was so steep going down she found it too hard to do. We went down there with her twice is all.

Tracy - I love Blackgang, been there every year (most years twice a year) since I was about 10/11 so it's a family tradition now and we still go even though we're 18, 16 and 15. Lol. We usually go with friends with younger children as we did this year though. Ooh a Rhododendron? I've seen plenty of those but none with a flower as pretty as that XD there are a lot in the New Forest (well less in more recent years but still a few)

FINALLY I tracked down this thread....and it wasn't actually that hard when I finally figured out how to search for THREADS not posts in the advanced search

Well, now I've found it I think I'll keep it going with picture updates and stuff...

Firstly, if anyone wants to browse...or add me or whatever, a link to my deviantart page - http://atomicaaa.deviantart.com/

Since I don't have any update photos YET that I haven't posted in the photography thread, here is a picture of me with my dad's birthday present! Yes, I know we did the same for grandad with the pictures of Holly, but this is my dad's favourite picture. I stuck myself in there so you could see how big it is, sorry I obscure the image, but I figured you must know the picture anyway ;) I edited it slightly different (better) for the print, and it turned out so well that people at my mum's work were asking who took it and where she got it done etc. Dad is going to put it up at work!

Re: PFT's thread; everything Monty, Woody, Holly and holidays!

Postby pawsforthought on Wed Sep 28, 2011 4:34 pm

So today my otherwise wonderful walk with Monts and Woods ended on a not so wonderful note...

In an area of the common (where I walk) that requires you to have your dogs on leads (in the cemetery) by law, two Staffordshire Bull Terriers were roaming around their owners up ahead of me. For once I can't blame Monty for what happened, as the first staffie came trotting up, tense and alert and Monty only noticed it when it had reached him, so he didn't start this one! I knew Monty would react badly to it, so I pulled him as hard as I could forward and away from the Staff, but the other dog circled around and attacked Woody's legs and back from behind, startling him and inciting the typical protective reaction from Monty. I had to put myself between the dogs before the staffie finally responded to, and went back to his screaming owner, who didn't have the sense to then put him on the lead....or even hold him in any way at all???? Then the second Staffie approached, immediately going for Monts who retaliated, as I tried to pull him away. I had to use my foot to push the other dog away, and again put myself in between them. The other owner present was calling this one, and again, did not grab his dog when it went over to him! Sure enough, the first dog came straight back for another go but I managed to keep it away by AGAIN putting myself between them. Neither of the two owners there were carrying anything and so they both had no excuse for not controlling their dogs immediately. I was on my own with two dogs, which the other owners could clearly see. But the fact that they had their dogs off lead in not only an area where it is illegal to do so, but also a CEMETERY, where you'd think it respectful to leash your dog anyway, that made me a bit angry. I couldn't really say anything to them, for fear of starting something, and also wanting to get away from their dogs.

Sorry for the essay there

Wow! That would have been very scary and could have ended badly for you! I truly dislike irresponsible owners like that, and to not even have a leash with them is very unsafe. I had a similar situation with two boxer who attacked Dixie while I was out walking. The first one the owner just stood there yelling "stop moonkie" or something ridiculous like that. In the end I ended up having to kick the boxer off Dixie as it had her on the ground by her neck and since its owner was useless I felt I had the right to use that force. Then not even 15mins later another boxer (different owner) did pretty much the same thing except the owner was no where in sight during the attack. I had to use the same force to get this one off Dixie but it kept going after her back legs to the point she had enough and lunged at the boxer. I basically had to drag her away while being chased by this dog and finally found it's owner yapping away to a group of people and was not in the slightest concerned to where her dog went. I flipped out on her, screaming to the point that she started to cry. I didn't feel bad in the slightest and I should have reported her to the city (I should have called on both dog owners). No one messes with my Dixie!

This happened in an off leash area, but just because its off leash doesn't mean you can let your dogs run wild! We are having a huge problem where I live with dog owners who let their dogs off leash in public areas that have signs everywhere saying keep your dog on the leash!
